Looking forward to any news about this 2.x stuff from you guys
I guess that as time goes by their team either found more bugs/exploits for lower versions of firmware, or some known exploits become safe to get disclosed publicly and something related will be released soon. There are always new findings on old firmware from time to time, even a lot effort and time is spent on new firmware.
Daeken has told people to update, because in the short term 3.0 gets HB immediately.
I've been telling people not to update, because CFW/emuNAND is more interesting to me -- I want a customized Switch OS and homebrew with full hardware control. And for those things, as I have said a lot, lower is always better. Full stop, end of story.
Different goals, thus different statements.

Well, in 3.0.0 nintendo changed some keys, but it doesn't mean that something big is coming.

If the only thing that 2.X will allow is HB, there is no reason not to update to 3.0.0, which will probably have a developed homebrew scene. Read SciresM comments, for me it seems that he is mentioning CFW/emuNAND possibility for 2.X.
I had a 2.x switch but I sold out, because this whole hoarding and teasing reminds me too much of the DSi.
I'm not going to be some devs wet dream.

Yeah he never mentioned it specifically. But before he wrote that it is also relevant for 3.0.0, it seems that there was something in 2.X that get you one step closer to CFW/emunand. I didn't mean that is is known for sure that there will be CFW/emunand for 2.X. (That is what I meant when I used the word "possibility". As I understand, for now there isn't any known kernelhax for 2.X, which is required for that). Sorry if anyone misunderstood that.
If I understand correctly, the new ability gives you control over pretty much all the services, which mean better homebrew and bigger vector for kernel hax.

still only known kernelhax are on 1.0.0 and nothing else then homebrew is confirmed for 2.X and higher.
And everyone is being so secretive we can't tell if there is any other exploits or not. The switch scene is as garbage as the DSi scene after rocketlauncher was announced as coming soon (either months ago now)
TX is probably going to be the best hope for most people. It's a shame that it's a commercial product. The 1.0.0 hax could have been released ages ago, because if they are blocked already then there is no reason to withhold them. Apart from as some form of control.

@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one -

I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!

I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
