Oh and Gunbuster + Diebuster are good for short and sweet.
(although Gunbuster isn't needed to be able to enjoy this, it's recommended just for the emotional gratification at the end)

Legend of the Galactic Heroes ...okay, it's not a mech series, but it IS an awesome space opera.

If you feel like it, give Gundam SEED a try. Midway, the series is good, but it dips in quality huge during the last bit. And the end sucks. SEED Destiny is even worse than the last parts of SEED, avoid it like the plague.

RahXephon hasn't been mentioned yet (my favorite).
Patlabor
FLAG...kinda mecha.
I remember Gundam 08th MS Squad being good but no promises.
There's no Robotech/Macross on the lists?
Gasaraki might work for you but it's been too long to say for sure.

Others have been mentioned.

If you go Neon Genesis I say stay away from the "condensed" version and get the series.

Also samurai 7: samurai/mecha anime based around the seven samurai story. My favourite anime in recent years and a contender for my favourite ever.

Only second and third seasons. Just the third for mecha. And RahXephon isn't _that_ good..

Thanks guys. I already looked around in other forums but I havent seen half of the animes you guys are reccomending.
It was Code Geass which made me want to watch more mecha anime in the first place. The ending was so frikking awesome. I can't wait for season 2.

Also, even though I'm asking for suggestions, may I suggest Tekkaman Blade to you guys. Its a bit old but I really liked it as a kid and watch it again recently.
