So are there any other Dwarf Fortress Players here on Gbatemp? I have been playing for years now. (about 3 years)
P.S. Found it by complete accident looking for a good rouge-like to play.

You are preaching to the choir I frequent the official forums on a daily basis, and yes the catplosion is a interesting thing but I have seen crazier stuff just search the official forums.
P.S. Hence in the thread title I used Dorf for the spelling. (bad ongoing joke in the community, although not nearly as bad as making cat cookies, look it up)

Don't feel bad I can understand why some one wouldn't get the joke out side of the official forums it is almost never called Dorf Fortress. Also yes the UI is about as obtuse as they come. But if you can get over the UI it is a very fun game in my opinion,

I keep meaning to play it, but something always distracts me. I should really get around to playing it.

I keep all mine in a folder and only the ones I play on my desktop, it keeps me from getting way too distracted :ninja:
One I finish setting up Sabayon Linux on my laptop, I will download it and try it out.

    I play it yes.
Took me quite a while to know what I was doing.

Dwarf fortress had a steep learning curve.
Other then that it's a pretty neat game.

I once had a dwarf which was flimsy, weak, easy to tire, anti social and very autistic.
I assigned him a job as a miner but he kinda loved fishing.
So I named him "The Autistic Fisherman"

Give it a shot if you can get over the UI hurdle you will realize how quaint it makes other civ simulation games.

Yay so I am not the only one who plays DF. I was starting to get worried.
Had a similar issue once, so I got pissed and fed him to the sponges. it was funny to watch the dwarf run from its inevitable doom.

    Poor poor dwarf D;

Mine went insane cause his wife was killed by Goblins.

Somehow the Goblins haven't found him fishing in the woods, yet they murdered my entire dwarf population in the fortress.
I had one dwarf in the stockpile which was killed the last .__.

I'm not the best in DF but I can learn you the basics.
Friend of mine has learned me to play it.
He's pretty much addicted to the game ;p

The basic is all I will need! As long as I can figure things out from there.
