Anyone else love this game as much as I do? I love these type of real time strategy games where you watch your empire grow. Too bad it doesn't have a WFC function.. otherwise it'd be even more sweet.

I must say this game is not only very fun but highly addictive. Yeah, no WiFi is truly a waste. But no matter, the game would probably lag like nuts or something if we go head-to-head online. Think about it: numerous buildings and detail. Yeah, I'm pretty sure lagging is unavoidable.

Easily one of the best games for the ds so far. Too bad the 'fighting' system is really simplified. I wouldn't have mind some kind of zoom in on the actual battle where more mm was allowed.

I've loved all the Anno games for the PC so I was delighted to see this come out for the DS. I love it, just completed the campaign over the past 24 hours, although it was only on easy

I really do hope they make a sequel to it.

well, theme park and sim city isn't really like this one..

I would like to see some real time strategy... which isn't that much battle adjusted... (like c & c, red alert etc.) but more on building up a civilization... AND BATTLE! with story mode....

like.. this! or... sim city.. with fighting..

Actually it's the second/third. Theme Park is already out and just as awesome, Sim City is out in Japanese and I think it'll be released in English, soon.
Out in Europe and US next week. Although I can play the PC version at any time, I love what the developers have done with the DS functions, everything is used and used well. Not sure about WFC didn't try that on the J version but I think its just trading buildings and cities either way at least its used. Can't wait to play it properly in English.

Theme Park I loved but it did have a fair bit of buggage in it. Settlers should be fun when that arrives too.

Oh yeah, Settlers is coming, too!

Another similar game that would be awesome on the DS is Caesar 3 or one of it's sequels. Also, Transport Tycoon. Has someone tried to port that, yet?

Oh yeah, Settlers. I forgot about that, I think that'd be very similar to Anno 1701 wouldn't it? Ooh can't wait.
I still haven't beaten Anno yet.. no time

It's quite similar but also quite different. More unit based and with more combat I think.

Transport Tycoon is on everything but the DS... It's a shame because the DS would have the potential to be the second best handheld to play it on, just after the Zodiac and similar Palm 480*320 handhelds.

Anno 1701 is great! I'm on the mission in chapter 2 where you have to get jewellry and chocolate for the people and make em Aristocrats. Thing is I'm making too little of a profit to really get anywhere, and I'm sensing those pirates will attack me soon... Any tip on how to make some nice profit. Also I would like to know a good strategy for building towns, too often I find myself feeling the islands are too small with all the stuff that is needed.

Getting the bare minimum for the productions. Since 99% of the cases, the thing that drags your profit down the most is the production buildings. If you are getting too much of a product than your people really needs, then inactivate one. My first two islands got messed up due to placement for me too, till I got the hang of it. Build the houses in a circle(square like) with a little space here and here for roads. Then get the tavern, school etc in the middle so it covers your whole town. Later on when you get the 2nd lvl church, destroy the first one as it has the same effect. The buildings they require before the final advancement covers extremely lot of space, so at that point you don't have to worry about it.
