Even with the gamma loader, I seem to be getting disc read errors a lot. Just got one before it asks for your name. Bah.
I am playing fine.
Had wifi working, got some Bells from friends

.

You have to burn it again at different speed. Or try to use another DVD-Media.

Well, I'm gonna give burning it at 2x speed a try now. Unfortunately, the only other DVDs I have to burn to are +R, and unless something's changed that I haven't been aware of, those will work even less

Use IMGBURN to burn the ISO.
Change the booktype to DVD-R
and burn at 8x if the DVD media supports it.
So with those DVD+R just change the booktype to DVD-R.
Thats when I get my best results

burning the disk that has been patched with ios 30 does work direct through the disk channel but only for people who have modchips

Does anyone have tried the game (scrubbed) on a 3.3v2 wii, or tried to update before playing?

I wouldn't mind to update if you can run the game with the disc channel (i will install a cIOS first, of course).

thats what i would like to know especially 3.2E as i've heard it doesn't work on that firmware (or below) because of the IOS or something, also does it work with a wiikey too?

but i am guessing it's going to be the same as wii music usa, as that wouldn't work normally via the disc channel on a pal wii and i had to use geko os to boot it.

Using Backup Loader Gamma (0.3b) here on 3.2E, and it's working fine.

I've burned at 8x and use DVD+Rs, and it works fine for me. Odd.

No, it doesn't. I can attest to that.

What firmware are you using?

I just checked...this game uses IOS38.

That's why you get a blackscreen with modchips. You can only get IOS38 from the AC disc.

The solution to playing it without altering the game, would be to extract the IOS38 WAD from the AC disc using WUFE or Wii Scrubber... and then installing IOS38 with WAD maanger.

AC:CF is working fine on my PAL Wii using gamma or menupatcher. So GeckoOS isn't a must have for import loading backups (unless your TV is an older model and doesn't have NTSC support, which most TVs of the last 5 or so years do). On the other hand, it does also bundle Ocarina and region free for retail disks, so I wouldn't call it redundant.

So whats the best way to load this on a modded pal wii with the older version of the 3.3E FW?

I would mod the iso image with the ios patcher and patch it to 30. The game then runs fine through the disk channel, but i have got all the new custom ios installed and the 3.3 fake update with shop channel etc.
I am on 3.2E by the way.
And what ive said does work, as its works great for me.

I've patched it with IOS to 30 and when i put the dvd it shows the error immediately, even without opening Disc Channel. I have PAL Wii with WiiKey.

The people who are having problems with IOS patching, if you are using this release, you have removed the forced patch with brickblocker or whatever before IOS right?

Because IOS works perfectly fine, i done it on the scrubbed release with the patch removed and runs through disc channel.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
