How am I supposed to compile this?
I ran "make" on extractpartition and this came up:
Code:
cc -Wall -W -Os -DLARGE_FILES -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -c extractpartition.c -o extractpartition.o
make: cc: Command not found
make: *** [extractpartition.o] Error 127
or am I supposed to compile this for PC?

I had similar problems compiling, but id on't have Devkitpro installed (I presumed the extract partition wouldn't rely on any ARM/PPC specific code).

Luckily for Linux users, backup-creator is working perfectly with WINE, if you can track down a pre-compiled version (PM me if this is needed, I don't mind sharing!)

Yeah, i think it's an PC tool. It's to prepare the ISO before burning. This would be made on PC.

umm....im kinda new to this site, but i wanted to ask a question which might sound kind of stupid to some people, but does this load gamecube backups as well, and if yes, then how do i burn gcm files?

The problem is that partition extractor is written for linux, and thus is rather difficult to compile properly on windows. I removed all the windows code, but it still keeps crashing every time it runs an I'm not sure why. I will try to figure it out by the end of the day.

FYI: CC not found means you don't have gcc

Why am I having such trouble compiling it for Linux then? I think the problem is that it calls it in the form "cc", when most linux-based makefiles call "gcc". I may have to have a little ahck at this makefile when Iget home, see if I can get it working. Even though it seems to work perfectly through WINE, I don't entirely trust it - a native version would feel much more homely.

w/e, but this thing is slow as hell on star wars force unleashed. they have GOT TO improve the speed on this thing. although i know its probably never gonna happen

Hey everyone. I've been having problems with this for the past while but i got it working now.

For everyone who is having the DVD Identify Failed thing when you try and boot you need to install CIOS36_rev5-64-v1042. I installed that and now it works.

here's a link

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y721SHR7

I did that and Godfather, Boom Blox, and Mario party 8 all WORK fine. But Mario Kart and Batallion Wars 2 get "dvd identify failed"

i've been reading elsewhere that people are having problems with MK.
Mario Kart locks up after the 3rd race in the Shell cup for me anyways

ok. but do i need a modchip or any extra hardware?
and how do i do this thing? can you list the procedures?

Nope, you don't need a modchip or any special hardware (besides a PC with a DVD burner). Look either at my list on page 12 of this thread, or open the HOW-TO spoiler on the front page news item - that should give you all the necessary steps.

Few questions...
Do I still need to use the Wii Twilight Hack procedure to get the Homebrew Channel installed?

Do the backed up games you can play also play online?

Is anyone ever gonna compile a complete guide to this the right way for n00bs?

Anyways... it's sounding really tempting... I think I have everything ready for my first run... just need to go rent a copy of Twilight... Someone that has already done this and knows how to write clear directions for beginners please do so... It would be greatly appreciated... and I know the admin around here is probably going nutz seeing so much hype about this...including the threads about Waninoko's leaked and now tweaked... I hate to say it to Waninoko...but alot of people told you so! Now who gets the glory? Or would you do the smartest thing and get together and perfect this thing so you go down in history as legends?!

There are multiple items that are dependent on each other. You will have to research the information for each on your own since they are all fairly well documented. To be nice since you are new Ill simplify -

You need a Wii, a Wiimote and an SD card permately
Borrow Twilight princess and boot it with the hacked save
The hacked save installs the homebrew channel
Install the wad manager
Use wad manager to install the custom IOS
Use homebrew channel to run DVDX installer in advanced mode choosing ios 249
Grab either backup launcher dol to be used with Homebrew channel or the WAD version
If DOL install in homebrew channel apps folder. If WAD version use wad manager to install
Download ISO of your game
Use the "patcher" to modify the ISO
Burn the ISO to a DVD-R
Put the disc in your system and open the launcher and then choose boot game.

Check out the fist link in my signature - everything you need and a simple step by step

How long does it usually take for the games to start up? I loaded Super Mario Galaxy but it's stuck on a black screen right after loading :\ (According to compatibility list, it should work) . I assume I'm supposed to burn the partition.iso right? I burned it at 2.4X with Nero.

Did you patch the iso?
