Hello,

after Waninkoko abandoned his backup loader, I started my own backup launcher project. The source code is attached. There is only official released source code used. There is no leaked source code used. The remaining code was newly written. The cIOS installer will download from Nintendo servers. I added support for backups in GeckoOS. PAL and NTSC is supported. There is no binary included, you need to compile it using devkitpro (PPC + ARM).

It works in the same fashion as the Waninkoko version except the source is available. The only downside is that you must compile your own binaries. Official precompiled versions DO NOT exist. This modified version of Gecko OS is not created, authorized or condoned by the original authors.

readmeWii Backup Launcher 0.1:
########################

* Purpose *

Launch Wii DVD backups. This is a source code only release. You need to
compile it using devkitpro (PPC + ARM).

* Author *

WiiGator

* Compiling Order *

Run "make" to compile:
1. extractpartition
2. dip_module
3. copy dip_module/bin/dip_module.elf to cios_installer/data/dip_module.elf
4. cios_installer
5. geckoos

* Create DVD *

To create DVDs you need extractpartition. Don't call this patching. It only
decrypts the DVD. Patching is done within GeckoOS.

1. Run extractpartition
2. Burn output file to DVD-R (raw iso)

* Installing *

1. cios_installer - if you get an error message like "-1017" then you need first to uninstall IOS249.
2. dvdx, choose IOS249
3. geckoos

cios_installer will install a custom IOS v6 which is same as Waninkokos cIOS v5.
You don't need to install it, if you already installed cIOS v5.

In this release there is no leaked code included. Only official code is used.
This is released by WiiGator. The official released dip_module, IOS
patches and libcios are used. Other code from Waninkoko is not used! Waninkoko
is not responsible for this release. Don't ask him about it.
The GeckoOS included is an inoffical release. It is based on GeckoOS 1.07.
PAL and NTSC is working. GeckoOS can load both original and backup discs.

PATCHMII custom IOS DOES NOT WORK WITH THIS
Sorry everyone. I couldn't remember that I had used Waninkokos original Custom IOS and not patchme. Please forgive me for misleading you

Installation instructions Category wrote up the steps to get it working so I added them to this post -
1) UNINSTALL any cIOS on your system
2) Install cIOS rev 5 (the one that was included in the first leaked loader) - CIOS36_rev5-64-v1042.wad
3) Install DVDX with advanced install, and choose IOS249
4) Copy the Backup Launcher dol to your homebrew channel apps folder or install the Backup Launcher Channel WAD
5) Decrypt ISO with extractpartition/backup-creator (if using dvd+r set the book type to dvd-rom)
6) Launch the game

UPDATED - Here is an unofficial unsupported new version for you to test. Don't ask for help in the other forum if you use it

Wow, this is awesome! Unfortunately, I'm not that good at compiling sources, so I'll just use Waninkoko's Backup Loader until a compiled version is available.

What I was wondering: do the "patched" Wii ISO's for Waninkoko's loader (I know there not patched but rather decrypted and extracted) still work? And is patching now possible in Linux?

so is his version of the loader released or is this just in "programming" stages for now? either way it's great news.

I'd give it a go but both my Wii's have modchips installed, which I understand causes problems with the softmods.

How come so many people have 2 Wiis?? Or is it just me
One in the living room, one in the kids bedroom.

It's what he wanted for his birthday!

Please for the love of god, check the damn source before you guys do anything with your Wii. I'm afraid that TehSkeen is just out to grab your balls and cut them off.

You know something we dont?

Virtually every GC homebrew worth mentioning came from users on the Tehskeen forums.

First Post for ME!
It works fine! I am using an NTSC-U 3.3U wii with Metroid Prime 3 Corruption on A Sony DVD-R!
It's just a little slow loading, but it does not give me a flickery screen, and its in color

Can we all behave ourselves and not ask for support at the other forum if you are using the unofficial build? I'd hate for the new developer to get pissed off as well!

Otherwise it looks as if at least 4 people have tried it and it worked.
