Hacking An interesting rumor about the 3DS...

As you know, the system currently accepts curse words and other dirty language when it comes to naming things on the 3DS. It seems that an update is on the way to squash that kind of activity.

Jesus fucking Christ. If I buy a fucking god damn 3DS, it's my shit. I should be able to fucking well name anything on it to whatever the hell I want to!

Not everybody who uses the 3DS will be:
kids that like to use several swearwords a sentence
-or-
adults that don't have manners.

Think of how many kids and even normal people that will use the 3DS won't want swear words jumping out at them every second. (literally?)
With how connected to the internet this will be, it wouldn't make sence if they didn't prohibit swear words. Gain decency, man.

As for the other things mentioned in the rumor, I think it's possible. I won't be able to get a 3DS till the second half of the year anyways, so I guess I'll wait it out and see with my current DS system.

As far as I'm concerned, the farther the system gets from kids on XBL the better.

If the rumour about an update bricking your 3DS was true then that would be Nintendo being more like Microsoft, not Sony.
Microsoft bricked the hard drives of 360s that they banned at one time, but ended up undoing that in a later update.

None of these rumours worry me much.
1. I don't plan to trade in my 3DS.
2. I don't plan to accept updates immediately. I'll wait until their effects have been confirmed as safe each time.
3. I don't have a need to name things with vulgar language.

I think this is one of those ridiculous rumors I've heard. An update that would brick your console? lol.. They can only blocked but not bricked. Something's telling me that their main weapon against piracy is the possibility of auto-update when near wifi hotspot? I would agree with the last rumor but then again, why bother? This really doesn't surprise me. The 3DS has plenty of processing power and RAM above and beyond what's needed for running DS games. It's entirely possible Nintendo could run "sniffer" programs in the background while in DS mode. Everybody should be cautious with their brand-new $250 system, I know I will.

I dont think they can stop you from using the system because you pirated. They could ban you from online play sure, but blocking the ENTIRE system is a bit overkill, and probably illegal.

I think that's more of a 'get out clause' on Nintendo's part. In case someone uses something that messes with, say, the firmware or uses a flashcart with software that bricks the system then they can't say "HEY NINTENDO. It's broke fix it please, I only had it a month".

It's the same old 'don't use unauthorised software/hardware/' line they have had in every system's handbook. I highly doubt it's some sneaky 'f-you' to pirates.
