how do you get passed that boss where you gotta shoot the two blue targets on each side of the door and crush him? he breaths fire and I can't seem to get the door to crush him

Make sure you have at least a laser or machine gun, preferably at full power, then pound on the targets. It's pretty much impossible without a power up.

Wrong, just ultra tap your Y button the moment he finishes attacking. I did it like that, and it worked fine

BTW: I don't need boss help anymore.

PS. I beat the game only losing one life, and that's cause I missed a jump at the stupid rocket part.

I'll try again...I have the low power spread gun and it would never decapitate the dang thing.

BTW, to get the NES games, do you do the challenges or just complete the game on hard etc.

I'm not great at the game, but I've learned the first level pretty much inside out by now, so I've started messing with things like the machine on rails that shoots those huge hadokens. I was strafing back and forth and jumping while shooting at it when I looked at my lives and suddenly I had 99. Must have accidentally put in the Konami code

Ok, now that I've practiced it a bit, I can go pretty good on this now.

I can kill every single boss without dying EXCEPT for that freaking underwater boss. I ALWAYS get nailed by his spikes at least ONCE! I can never manage the whole fight without getting hit by his spikes!

I started with normal, and then practiced on hard. I gave easy a try and it really is VERY easy. You automatically get the level 2 versions of all weapons (normally you have to get the weapon twice), and some major hazards are no longer there either. Like the boulders in the waterfall area. Also, you get like 9 or 10 lives I think instead of the normal 3 per continue.

Yeah, this game is tough when it's new, but after a bit of practice, it isn't so bad. Although I still find myself dying from the odd zerg rush (too many enemies in the screen than I can handle).

Nah, he's right...it isn't THAT hard once you get used to it. And it doesn't take long to get used to it since the controls are so simple. Often, games with complex controls which are difficult take a LONG time to get used to.

Btw, does anyone know who those two girls you are unlock as characters are? It seems kinda odd having two half naked girls running around shooting at aliens :wtf:

Been playing quite a bit and have gotten used to the difficulty. You just have to be really careful and try and remember the places where you get the angles right to avoid bullets while still dishing out damage.

Trying to beat hard but keep getting stuck on lvl 2 boss

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
