Almost perfect 3000 mah battery mod

This is a 3.7volt lithium polymer battery. Ive burnt into the wii u pad to modify some space...got very close to some wires so didnt go further. But look at the results, and the nerf casing holds it like a lid.i wrapped the battery itself in electric tape and then used regular tap to make sure it dont slide around. After holding it in my hands i realized i dont even feel the lump because its in the middle where my fingers dont reach 20181013_002027.jpg

UPDATE, I PERFECTED IT WAS KINDA RISKY. So after i inserted battery wii u controller wouldn't turn on so i noticed it got disconnected and the white tape wire also had a small cut across it. I put electric tape over it, and opened the lid at the connector...had to solder out more plastic to reach it, then stuck wire back on and closed lid. It worked after that. P.S the way to do a cleaner job would be to get the screw driver, remove the whole bottom plastic(even though i took 1/3 off), and follow the solder pictures. my battery is on a very slight slant, but there is no pressure put on it due to the extra open, its not gonna slide anywhere, and in my option the battery has air flow. I covered the whole battery in electric tap because i had it in my psp prior, i did order a new but couldnt wait and i noticed some white stuff on bottom, came off the battery. I then realized all batteries have a sticker skin on them, but am not sure how itll affect it now.

Nice thread. I saw this battery on aliexpress. It's "only" 2500mah but its dimensions are 7*44*69mm and it would fit inside the battery compartment. My only doubt is are the chips from official 1500mah and 2550mah batteries the same type? Do they work the same way? I mean, Do I need a chip from an official 2550mah battery to attach it to this battery or would a chip from a 1500mah one do the trick?

The 1500mah chip should work safely for the battery as long as it is capable of charging and maintaining larger and/or more cells then the stock battery has. My guess is that it probably is one of those chips that works with a wide range of lithium cells since it would be cheaper to get those in bulk then one specifically for the 1500mah battery.

Actually im taking electric class right now and from what i understand it dont matter how big the battery is as long as it is the same voltage of 3.7. The reason the chip is there is to control the battery and protect it from like short circuting or overloading. The red wire is the postive side of battery and black is negative, the white wire is neutral, and the other wires are controllers for the joy sticks. That 3.7 volts gets shared by everything inside. My chip was taken from the 1500 oem

One more thing...Looking at the pictures of the OP it seems to me that the battery already has some kind of chip to protect it from a shortcircuit, overloading it, etc. Do we still need a chip from an official battery? I know I would have to open an official battery to get connector anyway. Just asking.

Edit: I saw the video and it seem the chip is necessary.
Edit 2: I opened a 1500mah official battery and ordered a 2500mah battery (a 7*44*69mm one) from China. I'll post some photos and comments in 2/3 weeks.

Yea the battery has its own chip, im guessing its to make the red and black wire on top, when you open your wii u battery you see a metal wire on top and bottom of that battery

And ive played like 3 to 4 hours on lowest setting rumble off, and the battery shows it only lost 1/3. I would assume i can get 10 hours total before red light comes on

Not trying to be a smart ass but I have my screen brightness down and it drastically made a difference from 5 or so Minutes to at least 3 Hrs of gaming but nice mod eventually batteries still need replaced but just throwing this out there it crazy how the screen eats the Battery.

How did you do this? I just looked in settings and saw nothing about screen brightness or rumble for the Wii U pad.

The protection chip inside the cell - if it has one at all (which, for the aluminium-shelled rectangular one, is usually visible under the yellow tape) is just that: it may disconnect (more or less permanently) power in case of overcharge, overdischarge, overcurrent, multiple of the above, or maybe none in case it's fake....

The one in a "consumer" battery may or may not do the above things, but it could also have a thermometer (for charge limiting), supply static information (serial number, ideal capacity, etc), dynamic information (wear-adjusted capacity, cycle count, more accurate remaining % and time calculations than possible by measuring voltage alone...)

All previous Nintendo products (including the whole 3DS series) took the simplistic approach with a simple resistive thermometer at best, but 4 pins point at some "smartness" (not that it wouldn't be achievable with 3!)

But just like the gamecube and Wii, some crazy asshole will build a truly portable "Wii U Portable, most-likely with a second 7" screen to act as the TV, and a few power banks or laptop cells customized. That would be sweet. Especially since 3D printers are a thing.

If you have a car jumper that you can plug into, or a generator...just plug in tv and wii u

So it finally died in middle of mario kart, played about 30 mins when the red light started flashing. It took 6 hours to fully charge

Seems like a lot of effort for so minor gains in battery life. I mean, the official extended battery is 2550 mAh and doesn't require mangling the shell.

Yea but the offcial 2550 is no longer being made or itll cost you. The mangling was done because i did it blindly at first, im sure some 1 else can do a much better job with a steady hand. Maybe in the future this mod will be more important

You should get all types of heads for screw drivers, mainly the phillips in #00, and #000, got the triwing later after a naive young me destroyed a prestine laptop only to find out I needed to reseat the ram. I broke off the keyboard in a desperate attempt to pry it open using a standard house flat head. I regret it so bad that before I touch a repair I make sure I have the right heads and have seen a teardown article or video of the item.

I went to walmart and bought their hypertech small system repair set for like 13 dollars, it had the triwing screw, and i did open it up. Its how i was able to reattach to power paper

Bad news. I played two hours in a row (2h and 5') with brightness set at level 3 and the orange light lit on the Wii U gamepad. I hoped it would last longer . I've just ordered this 5,000mah-battery. I think it will fit perfectly in the battery compartment. I will post again in a month or a month and a half.

Thats fake, there is pshyically no way to fit 5,000mah into something that small. Maybe the 2500 is also fake, using the orginal 1500mah is the amount of power to fit in that space. Since mine is double the size i really do have 3000mah, so u actually might have 1750 labeled as 2500

Ive also done battery experaments on my note 5 and i found out that a battery the same size, nothing is better than the oem, anything same size claiming to have higher mah is fake https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-note5/general/battery-experiment-t3502232

Yep, even though I didn't said it before, I know that 5,000mah is not going to be the real capacity of that battery. If it was only real 3,000mah, it would stilll be a good option as it is pretty cheap and (I think) it will fit inside the gamepad battery compartment. We´ll know (I'll post it) in a month or so.
