All PS3 games are now bootable on PS3 emulator RPCS3

The PlayStation 3 emulator RPCS3 hit a new milestone today as the team announced that all known games released on the PS3 will now boot. While, of course, this does not mean that all PS3 games are playable, it is still significant progress, especially given how notoriously difficult the PS3 is to emulate.

On their website, the RPCS3 team breaks down game compatibility into five categories: playable, meaning the game can be played with reasonable performance to completion; in-game, meaning it is playable to a point, but cannot be completed; intro, meaning it will load an image but won't get to gameplay; loadable, meaning it will only display a black screen and a framerate counter; and nothing, meaning it won't initialize at all, and possibly crash the emulator. Of the 3233 games in their compatibility list, about 63% of them are playable to completion on RPCS3, and about 30% are playable in some form. This means that about 5% stop at the main menu, and only six remain in the loading category. According to their Tweet, they will now begin working on clearing those last six titles out of the loading category.

Cool. They should also work on bringing this emulator to ps4 and finally give us ps3 backwards compatibility on ps4 And shame $ony in the process.

I don't know that I would necessarily go that way and focus on random non running games but that would also depend upon what is holding things back (if it is general accuracy they are going for rather than game specific hacks then that would be a good thing).
Either way I do like to see progress in this arena. There are a handful of 360 exclusives and better versions but there are a few things appearing on consoles that did not on PC, and in some ways it is probably going to be easier to do PS3 versions rather than slap those games hard enough to run on a modern PC before too long, and at this point PC vs console was rather minimal in the effects it had (to say nothing of emulation likely being able to pump framerates and rendered resolutions up which is basically the non mod reasons for doing things).

hahahahahahaha like an emulator as complex and demanding as RPCS3 would easily run on the PS4 using budget PC hardware from 2013. Get real mate

These people have been making progress at an amazing rate, specially impressive when you consider how complex the PS3's architecture was.
