So, Iran. Iran's so far away, but there's no getting away from the controversy surrounding the rogue state. Most recently, it's efforts at a nuclear program (believed to be for the purpose of constructing WMDs) have met considerable resistance from the rest of the world. Their recent rocket launch (which sent Poopy Joe, or his Iranian equivalent, to the cosmos) brought even more scrutiny and concern.

Don't worry, though, because Iranian President and Diplomat-Extraordinaire Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is here to calm all fears. It's cool, guys, he's got this.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Monday that he’s ready to take the risk of being the first Iranian astronaut sent into space as part of Iran’s goal of a manned space flight.

“I’m ready to be the first Iranian to sacrifice myself for our country’s scientists,” the official IRNA news agency quoted him as saying in an address to space scientists in Tehran.

...Iran sent a monkey into space last Monday, describing the launch a successful step toward Tehran’s plan to send an astronaut into space within the next five to six years. The monkey named “Pishgam,” which means pioneer in Farsi, reportedly traveled 120 kilometers (72 miles) and safely returned to Earth.

Because who needs highly trained, extremely well-educated specialists, right?

The Iranian President is known for his occasionally outlandish, provocative statements and behavior. I'm sure that many would be thrilled to see him far, far away from the planet, even if it's just for just a short while.

Of course, he's likely just saying this in an attempt to boost his reputation back home. Then again, who knows - he might really be in the Mah-mood for some star trekking.

In other news, North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has responded to Ahmadinejad's comments, saying that he's also totally going to space. However, he added that he would be using a "sweet" Gundam that would, and I quote, "totally make you all mad jelly." [Citation Needed]

Hopefully he dies up there. Maybe someone will fire a rocket to chase after his shuttle. You never know if an American stealth drone accidentally happens to be in the area and accidentally fires a missile at the space craft.

sorry Iran you're 50 years too late; we been da space and gone done dat sheit already!

Hasn't Australia done shockingly little in terms of space launches and such like for several decades now? Granted the early stuff was great and the present astronomy stuff is also great but rocketships.... not so much.

Are you being for real, cause that's hard to believe, DK is Nintendo and made in japan, Sea of thieves was from Microsoft, in America. I'm not calling you a liar, just didn't know.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Ok yes they were both made by Rare, but DK was from Rare back then, Rare now is owned by MS. So makes since.
