Gaming Advice on VPN

Do you use one, what is your experience, which one do you prefer to use.

Basically I mainly use my Internet for torrenting, gaming and browsing.

I want something that isn't going to slow me down and will work on my phone as well as my pc.

I find info on Google but very few of it is personal usage and more just reviewed, can any one share your experiences and recommendations.

You can go with NordVPN or ExpressVPN, ExpressVPN cost more than NordVPN. You can invest in a seedbox if you don't want to get a VPN, or stop torrenting and just download the file directly so you don't need to worry about copyright strike from your ISP.

Oh, I've never had a strike, its more for privacy concerns.

Well if you don't torrent then don't waste your money on a vpn. If you really want to spice up your level of security you can invest in some real network equipment and create a private network. As for browsing, you can look into tor browser, as it use multiple nodes, so it is harder to track you.

Been using Nord vor a month now, can't complain. Very good Android app, they even offer a intergrated adblock.
Also haven't played with it, but from speedtest I've seen 20ms ping and the same up and downstream as my isp allows. (150 down 6 up)

I can't speak from personal experience but I have two different friends with NordVPN and ExpressVPN respectively and both sing their praises all the time. They both sound great.

are they shared IP and port forwarding compatible?
are VPN compatible with servers when using shared IP ? (NAS, ftp etc.)

Too bad I don't think it's possible to choose which network interface to use per program.
using VPN put all the communication through it with Windows? I'd prefer if I could choose for example "torrenting through VPN, IRC not VPN, servers not VPN". My torrenting tool has network interface selection, but windows doesn't.
when I tried VPN once, it disconnected and rerouted everything.

@Cyan that means you tried using a full tunnel VPN. It is possible to get a split tunnel VPN solution (we have one at work) but it requires a lot of configuration at the ASA level to create rules for which traffic to redirect and which to allow to pass through normally.

All of the common commercial options are full tunnel solutions that advertise privacy and security, but don’t offer the granular level of access control that you’re looking for.

Edit: actually, the other option is getting a proxy interface. Proxies let you configure specific apps to work through the proxy. I’m not so experienced in that aspect however so that’s where my advice ends.

thank you for that info, so I know it's possible now.
but it's seems too technical for my own usage.

maybe a proxy is a good idea. I have a synology NAS, I could set VPN on it and use it as proxy server only for apps I want. I'll look into that direction, it could even work for consoles (ps4/netflix?)
I'm still a noob with NAS, no idea how to setup and use it fully. it seems the nas proxy is used only to cache http requests...

I tried NordVPN a few years ago but found the speeds awful so switched to ExpressVPN, who have been excellent - would highly recommend them.
