who still have the EZ1 256 cart, is it still a good buy for today standard? How is the reliability? Is it still being updated ie. does it play the latest GBA games? Any advice or help is welcomed, thanks.

I have an EZ2 256 and as they use the same software I believe I can answer your question.
The latest GBA games should all be playable, for that matter most of the DS games should be playable as well (assuming the presence of a pass device or a flashme modified DS)
The last update was just over a month ago (this was for better DS support), nothing new has happened with the GBA since EEPROM V126 (which is also supported).
The only issue would be with the fact it uses more power hungry chips and has no RTC support: you will have to prepatch your game with GBATA if this is the case (only a few pokemon titles and I think a boktai games used RTC in the end).

As for todays standards 32Mbytes is paltry compared to the gigabytes some of the cards are dealing in these days.
