The Acekard 2i uses the DS to update and so you need to be able to boot into the OSMenu (ie AKAIO). If the DSi has already been updated so that it blocks the Acekard, then you can't update the firmware. There's little if any chance of there being any alternative methods of updating the Acekard 2i's firmware.

If i receive a fix for anything else I'm not posting it lol . Feels like I've been arrested and Anne Robinson is questioning me lol

Who's Anne Robinson? Nevermind that, thanks to the OP for posting this now I cant wait to get my DSi back from Nintendo!

So, in fact, this should let us swap Danny Phantom and Alex Rider card-icon's at will as long as we stay on 1.4 and don't update to 1.4.1

?
Danny Phantom -> Alex Rider
Alex Rider -> Danny Phantom
That's my understanding.

You can also use the language update to remove the Danny Phantom icon so you see the Acekard icon. Of course, this is only of use if your DSi has firmware 1.3 or below.

It too works if i use AKAIO 1.7 or it doesn't matter?
The firmware update has nothing to with AKAIO. It will work regardless of which AKAIO version you are using.
I thought that the fix is only for the Acekard official firmware but seems it works at akaio too. Thanks.

To clear that up, 'Acekard Official' and 'AKAIO' are not firmware. They are the Acekard's Operating System/ OSMenu/ Kernel and reside on the MicroSD card. The Acekard's firmware resides on the Acekard's internal 2MB flash memory and is completly seperate. The Acekard's firmware controls it's most basic functions and tells it what to do when it powers on, such as load AKAIO.

The firmware 1.4.1 fix has nothing to do with AKAIO.

Is the new fix in your guide now using now Alex Rider or Danny Phantom?
Updated for Alex Rider. I just need to take some fresh photos for it, as they screens are slightly different.

QUOTE(Kallona @ Sep 12 2010, 09:50 PM) Im still confused, sorry. Mine is on 1.4.1 its a dsi xl. Any way to fix it if i find a ds or dslite?
If you borrow a DS or DS Lite, it's a piece of cake to update the Acekard's firmware. The Acekard is not blocked on the DS or DS Lite as Nintendo is unable to update their firmware. So you able to boot the Acekard, run the firmware 1.4.1 fix and it will then work on your DSi XL.

Most people should be able to find someone with a DS or DS Lite. You can also use a DSi on FW 1.4 (not 1.4.1) *provided* you see the Danny Phantom icon when you insert your Acekard into a DSi.

This Update works also perfect on my R4iUltra

Updated the AK2i first, then tried it on the R4iUltra, cause i remmebered, the last update also worked on that.

It says:
CHIP ID: 0fc2 (Same as AK2i)
HW: 4444 (AK2i = 8181 if i'm correct)

Updated without problem, after the reboot, the icon was Alex Rider and it booted to the R4i Ultra menu on my DSi XL FW:1.4.1

I'm pretty sure older Acekard 2i's also had HWID 44.

No. Because The R4i Ultra is a real clone of the Acekard (with Acekard's permission), they have the same HWID's. 44/4444 = Those with Actel IC's and a window in the front of the shell, 81/8181 = Those with glob top encapsulated IC's and no window in the shell.

There are older Acekard 2i's that have HWID: 44 and newer R4i Ultra's that have HWID: 81.

What you have done though is confirm the update will work on the older HWID: 44 Acekards.

Really, Team acekard allow the production of R4i Ultras? So they're practically just relabelled acekards?
Interesting. Also good to know the 1.4.1 fix works on HWID 44.

They use the same hardware, and physically look identical inside. I also believe they are coming out of the same factory.

Originally there was a firmware 1.4 update for the Acekard, and also for the R4 Ultra. Both are clearly written by the same person, likewise both carts had a language update to fix the non english language issue. I imagine there was a slight difference in the updates so they could only be run on that cart which they were intented for.

What happended at the start of this year, there was a new batch of Acekard 2i's which would only update using the R4i Ultra update. Very quickly Acekard put out a fresh update which fixed that with an updated firmware update which Normmatt posted, but as a side effect it will also work on an R4i Ultra. The 1.4.1 fix also has to work on these Acekard 2i's which required the R4i Ultra update, so it too will work on the R4i Ultra.

Smiths has mentioned the R4 Ultra / Acekard deal on here a few times, so presumably knows more. I believe he was saying something like Acekard allowed one R4 manufacturer to use their designs, but that R4 manufacturer passed the designs around which gave rise to the clones.

I guess Dslite user don't need to bother themselves updating??
Why not? you might as well. It shouldn't effect it's use on your DS Lite. But if your DS Lite died tomorrow and you replaced it with a DSi that had firmware 1.4.1, you would still be able to use your Acekard 2i.

Remember it's only the Acekard 2i which can be updated, not the Acekard 2.1.

Excellent news!! this works on R4i Ultra from r4ultra.com or another version of R4i Ultra (I don't know if there is more than one)? Can you confirm that?
Thanks!
