Is there any homebrew app that can access the save files on a external hard drive that was formatted on another Wii U? I'm sharing a Wii U and would like to get a Wii U just for myself but want to transfer just my save files and leave their saves just fine. Also to add the shared Wii U can't have homebrew on it but the one for myself can.

Correct me if I am wrong but for game saves, I believe you can do that through sysnand? If so, not sure why you would need a homebrew app.

Let's say there are two Wii Us
I want to transfer some saves from Wii U 1 onto Wii U 2 while leaving other saves and software on Wii U 1 unaffected. Is there a way to do this?

You either need access to both consoles, or you need a dump of the OTP/SEEPROM of the other console in order to access the HDD contents with a PC.

First, as @The Real Jdbye mentioned, you would need to dump both otp.bin and seeprom.bin from the Wii U associated with the HDD. This step would have to be done on that Wii U. The homebrew tool WiiU NAND Dumper can do this, just select only OTP and SEEPROM in its options. Or, you could use both OTP2SD and SEEPROM2SD homebrew tools.
You may use the browser exploit to run Homebrew Launcher to load the homebrew from SD card and not incur any changes to the shared Wii U (..except maybe System Update download if updates are not blocked).

After that, you can plug the USB HDD into your PC and use the tools by @EyeKey (koolkdev) to read/dump the contents. See using [TOPIC=wfsdump-pc-util-for-dumping-wfs-devices-wiiu-file-system.478480]wfsdump[/TOPIC] or [TOPIC=release-wfs-fuse-mount-wii-u-usb-drives-on-linux-and-mlc-dumps.478835]wfs-fuse[/TOPIC]. You will need to supply it with the OTP and SEEPROM files or it won't work.

Edit: be aware that wfsdump is now named wfs-extract

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.

@SylverReZ, atleast wiimmfii went fine although people only use it for Mario kart Wii

At least if they ban you for cheating, get another Wii. They're cheap as chips.

Remember when RiiShop was a thing?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
    not really
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
It got shutdown because somebody "accidentally" leaked the database for the amount of people using the beta.

RiiShop is the laziest way of downloading Wii games. Did somebody not think of this through?

although i ended up accidentally changing my nand with no way of going back bc i didn't know you needed a gamecube controller to restore it (i have a wii minus/1.1, which doesn't have gamecube controller support)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, I think you're talking about the recovery mode that the SaveMii used, and also was to restore softbricked systems.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
If your NAND was hardbricked, then just buy another Wii. Or go with the dirty NAND flasher method.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and if i find the sd card i have my NAND backed up on, i can not only restore the NAND if i solder the right part in, but i can also put my NAND on dolphin, then i can play dolphin online, like PMEX Remix or MKWii Riibalanced

    Brb
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, Oh yeah, that was a thing too. Dolphin does support Wiimmfi.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
yeah you just need to put your NAND backup with wiimmfi on it
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
ngl i feel like if a bunch of my friends have wiis and know how to get wiimmfi and back up their NAND, then we could do a PMEX Remix tournament

maybe even add UMVC3/DBFZ and make it a biathlon/triathlon
