That was one thing that scared me away from it back when it was new. I liked the traditional handhelds like the Gameboy line but wasn't really interested in the portable movie/internet scene (Still am not )

If that is the case, it's hard to say. Yes, the PSX had the smaller PSOne revision, PS2 had the Slim. PS3 had the Slim and PSP had several re-releases.. but so have Nintendo gaming handhelds since the Gameboy pocket came out.

Generally speaking, if there is a 'need' for a revision it can be done. The 360 and PS3 needed revisions due to heat issues as you mentioned, so they slimmed down to fix some of the problems. The PSV has just come out so I don't think we can refer to the PSPs history since it is a seperate device and may not need as many adjustments.
