I just got a psp and was wondering if I can install custom firmware on it permanently.

Here are its specifics
Firmware out of the box: 6.30
Model: Brite 4001
Module: 04g
Motherboard: TA-093 v2
PSP3000
I am currently running 6.35 and temporary PRO-B

Not sure whether to upgrade to 6.60 or downgrade to 6.20? I hear they allow for permanent instalation.

Ok but will downgrading from an out of the box 6.30 to 6.20 brick it? Also will CWcheats work on temporary firmware?
Not sure on that specific revision, but it's worth a try. If it won't downgrade, then the updater will just fail to launch and flash0 won't be written to.

CWCheats works fine on temp.

Downloaded "8746-CWCheat v0.2.3" I assume I make an "seplugin" folder on the root and copy the contents of "install" into it and go into the plugin menu? There are two install folders "INSTALL" and "INSTALL_317" which one do I use?
