This is the newest method but for 3DS 11.0 still have only 2 ways to dwngrade? hardmod or dsiware downgrade?
I thought that with this new method could be possible to install a9lh + luma only via software, downgrade , everything...
In what CTR Transfer helps actually?

CTRTransfer still needs decrypt9, which requires an arm9 exploit to run, which requires downgrading to 9.2.

It makes it so you don't need to format emunand twice, downgrade it, transfer to sysnand, etc, and you don't need to update to 9.2.0 if you're below it.

Bumping this query, I got a little interested with this too, can't we just update the 1.0.0 3ds'es to 9.2.0 then use an alternative entrypoint to enter homebrew launcher?

So, will otherapp payload for 9.7.0-7E work on a 3ds updated by game from 1.0.0-0e to 9.7.0-0E, there was a hint somewhere.

Found the source below, but no clear statement or test if the last digit matters or not.
Perhaps the sourcecode for ninjhax2 on github can verify that it is not used at all,
but it may still expect a homemenu of a specific version to be functional.

Mod, please close this; I emailed Smealum and Ninjhax 2 doesn't use a browser at all (despite the -7 on the Ninjhax 2 page)

Wow. That guide changed by a lot. Been wanting to do a9lh on my us n3dsxl for awhile and may attempt tomorrow.

if i want to transfer my emunand at the end, do i really have to wait until after i'm done with part 3 section III before I dump my emunand? or can i do it now, while the 2.1.0 file is downloading? (btw if anyone could check the EU zip files checksums, that would be great. attaching arpon checksum 1.6 which is pretty quick and simple, no installation needed)

i know i cant flash it back until after part 3, but until then, nothing happens in emunand that would change it, right?
and it makes no difference whether i use decrypt9 or hourglass9 or emunand9 to create the emunand dump either, right?

Quick question....
I don't want to mess around with my actual emunand,
Is a 2gb micro sd enough to make the whole installation (just to make it as clean as possible).
And when i'm finished i could just inject my actual emunand as sysnand with the Big SD ?

i just noticed in the move emu/rednand section
shouldn't one check nand_emu.bins file size (step 8) before restoring sysnand with it (step 6)?
  1. Copy EmuNAND9.bin from the EmuNAND9 zip to the /luma/payloads/ folder on your SD card and rename EmuNAND9.bin to y_EmuNAND9.bin
  2. Reinsert your SD card into your 3DS
  3. Open Hourglass9 from arm9loaderhax by holding (Start) on boot
  4. Go to "EmuNAND Backup/Restore", then select the "EmuNAND Backup" option to backup your RedNAND to NAND_emu.bin
  5. Press (B) to get back to the main menu
  6. Go to "SysNAND Backup/Restore", then select the "SysNAND Restore" option to restore your SysNAND from NAND_emu.bin
  7. Press (Select) to eject your SD card
  8. Put your SD card in your computer, then copy NAND_emu.bin and NAND_emu.bin.sha from the /files9/ folder on your SD card to a safe location; make backups in multiple locations; this backup will save you from a brick if anything goes wrong in the future (Your backup should match one of the sizes on this page; if it does not, you should delete it and make a new one!)
  9. Delete NAND_emu.bin from the /files9/ folder on your SD card after copying it
  10. Backup every file on your SD card to a folder on your computer, all files will be deleted in the next step
  11. Reinsert your SD card into your 3DS

also, what happened just now? just to be save, i ended up making another emunand backup with hourglass9 like the guide suggested.
this new one happens to have this size:
+ Toshiba NAND:
988.807.168 bytes = 943 MiB

my previous decrypt9 backup of the same emunand has this size:
+ Samsung NAND:
1.000.341.504 bytes = 954 MiB

is this normal? does hourglas9 always dump a minimized file? my nand_min.bin is the same size

with this guide, is there a benefit to installing or using an Emunand? or am I good to go after following this.

Hey guys.

I want to start on this guide, but I have a REDNAND on a 32GB mSD card. I purchased a replacement 64GB mSD card. Are there any guides on how to deal with these things first?

i used the new guide for my 3ds and 2ds
from starting part 1 to finish (minus downloading the required files)
it only takes around 1 hour compared to 5 hours on the old guide
what a blessing
thank the devs
