Well a friend of mine tried to update his custom firmware to the new 3.80 m33, although (i'm not quite into this PSP Scene), that he followed a guide and it told him to install the official sony psp firmware, and from there the console stopped running backups.
What can he do, and how to solve this?

Now this question is from myself, i'm going to buy a PSP this week, but i wanted to know if its easy to install the custom firmware, or if i should try finding a older model.

Thanks!

He must have done it wrong. In the 3.80 m33 readme file it clearly states you need to rename the official 3.80 eboot file and place it in the same directory as the 3.80 m33 update. The m33 update will be ran.

It's very easy to install custom firmware. Go to the www.pspslimhacks.com forum. They have a very easy to follow guide.
