Well, it's not even a problem of being patient or not. For people who are not interested in foreign games, eshop games rip/vc injections or homebrew (.cia) and only want to play his own region games, a Sky3DS is a pretty good thing for a N3DS and this is no really any reason to wait.

I wouldn't advice it for a 3DS as near all the 3DS actually on the market can be downgraded and can use the gateway, but if someone really want a Sky3Ds even for a regular 3DS, why not, it's only a matter of taste.

wait I thought SKY3DS used smea's regionfree thing to play foreign games? why are people here saying it can't do that?

Wasn't another clone? You can be right, dunno. Only thing I heard about smea's regionfree is that it was only working on real carts, not roms, as smea don't want to support piracy.

But even if it was the case, smea is a software exploit, like the gateway, so it can be patched like they patched his ninjhax exploit.

I suppose, but that's an awful lot of features to definitively declare you wouldn't want to use at any point in the present or future.

It can work on Sky3DS or any of its clones. But it doesn't work in the N3DS

I see, then it's pretty useless for most people, because Sky3DS best/main feature is the N3DS support.

I am asking the following question out of genuine curiosity. I do not have any other meaning behind this question other than what you see at face value.
That means I only want straight answers and no arguing about anything Gateway vs Sky3DS. With that disclaimer said, here is the question:

I've seen a few people saying Gateway is dead. That Gateway has been abandoned. That the GW team stopped all communication.
I understand that I shouldn't take these claims too seriously, but they had to come from somewhere, right? So, what exactly is the basis for thinking Gateway is dead/abandoned? The last update was on January 22nd...

People always say this when GW takes too long. They usually take tons of time, people get pissed and this happens. But they never failed to deliver before and still release other fixes even if the one thing ppl most want (the N3DS support) hasn't been released yet.

PS: not to mention the trolls too. lol

I don't really care personally, I have a regular 3DS and a lot of retail games to play anyway (more than 30 games) so I could always find some games to use on the N3DS.

I'm in the same situation:

I have a 3DS XL v9.4 ---- Sky Compatible, GW Compatible
and a N3DS XL v9.0 ---- Sky Compatible, GW Compatible

I have pretty much all my essential games for the time being (Smash Bros, All Pokemons, NSMB2, SM3DLAND, Zelda ALBW etc.)

I suppose, but that's an awful lot of features to definitively declare you wouldn't want to use at any point in the present or future.

Question, can I back up (all the save data too) of my Downloaded version Super Mario 3D Land onto my N3DS XL if my 3DS XL is 9.4?

Basically angry kids making up stuff. The same exact shit was going around before the 9.2 exploit. There even was some "rumors" that GW declared bankruptcy or sold their company or whatever the fuck people invent these days.

Assuming the GW support of the N3DS uses emunand and if you update your 3DS to 9.5, you could do a system transfer.

I guess that with Sky3DS, you can also do a system transfer between the two too but that would require you to update both of them to the latest firmware.

since when gw compatible with n3ds:P

I think Gateway fanboys troll more than Sky3ds fanboys.. .and its not because of the sheer number of you guys... its because the amount of hateraid guzzled down over the last 3 months is about an oceans worth. Instead of hating on Sky3ds and its fans.. why dont you get your numbers together and flood Gateway and ask for answers. DEMAND ANSWERS! Why doesnt their product work on the latest console but SKy3ds does?

Not hating... I have a Gateway
Well, I think Sky3DS wouldn't have so many detractors if it weren't for the artificial 10 game limit the first batches had. Much of the hate stems from people's disgust at the Sky3DS team pulling such a dirty tactic to force customers to buy more flashcarts. GW's previous main competitor, MT, was never hated nearly as much as Sky3DS.

Don't forget them screwing the resellers and the "regular" button buyers. And to be fair, who knows how long would they pulled the 10 game scam if the good people of the scene didn't release that "limit" breaking tool...

Ok tested Gatway on 9.5 emunand. It boots up and installed CIAs/Homebrew boots fine. But gateway's multirom menu no longer works. So that pretty much means you can't load roms off the red card while on 9.5 currently. I'm rolling back to 9.4 to confirm this.

Hey, I just got gateway today. I backed up my NAND before splitting to emuNand. How can I go back to that and create a 9.2 emuNand?
