Folks in the Reswitched Discord are saying 7.0.1->8.0.0 did burn a fuse.
Though I don't see this info reflected on Swithbrew yet.

You can downgrade from 8.0.0 to 7.0.1, but if you burned a new fuse for 8.0.0, you'll need to boot with hekate or any other custom bootloader that ignores fuse checks.
Otherwise your switch will not boot.
But two people have upgrade and no fuse was blown. So I think I lean against them.

your console doesn't update to 8.0 by itself ? isn't it automatic ?
No it doesn’t I’ve turned off automatic software update in system settings so it has to be updated manually clicking on it but it still says update ready in settings under the units firmware status.

huh. neat. maybe they changed it back to a week
To be fair this is the first update I have ever noticed online feature access on a new pending update. I’m not sure why Nintendo have allowed this to go ahead unless they know it’s not necessary to worry about a forced update from 7.0.1 to 8.0 for online use I’m thinking they must know something we don’t I cannot see Nintendo allowing this go ahead without good reason.

wait so 7.0.1 emunand works with 8.0 sysnand?

Yes. The switch is taken over before sysnand is started so you can always load any supported version of emunand, no matter what your sysnand is.

You can't currently load 8.0 as sysnand or emunand though.

Ok good to know. I can update smash and download cuphead on the eshop without a worry then (tomorrow). Thanks
Don't expect Cuphead (or a new Smash update) to run on 7.x if installed from the eshop. They might work on 7.x if installed from nsp with "ignore firmware" or even re-encrypted with old masterkey (if they don't use new sdk), but not if installed legit.

(e: for the record, cuphead base game works on 6.2.0, 131072 update needs 7.0.1)

Glad to know that, I´ll try later. Thanks!

Someone here mentioned you don't have to disable AutoRCM to boot into maintenance mode? I've tried powering off and holding both vol buttons and pushing power but it just sits at a black screen until I inject a payload to start hekate. I don't have a jig either.

I went online to nab Cuphead and the update nag popped up. Bleh.

I can use Choi to jump firmware levels and disable the Wi-Fi to make it stop but if maintenance mode kills the nag for good without the need for going offline I'd rather just do that.

So mine upgrade automatically to 8 firmware (i don't know how, i've airplaine mod). I have sx os pro and my question is If i can downgrade to 7.1 or there is a problem with the fuse!

For some reason 8.0 didn't burn a fuse, so you can downgrade to 7.0.1 and it'll work as if you'd never updated. Wouldn't matter for booting cfw anyway tho as fuse check is skipped.

If i updated from 5.0.0 to 8.0.0 how can i finde out how many fuses are burned .and if i can downgrade ,what firmware should i downgrade to?
