Hacking 6.xx PRO CFW Release Thread

6.20 has an advantage over 6.60 in that you can just hold Select on boot to temporarily boot OFW, if needed to test if something is signed or crap like that, or for easy updating.

So what is the best 6.zz cfw to be on? Currently in 5.00 m33, not too fussed about poploader. 1st gen psp slim.

Well, 6.20 PRO can have permanent patch, but that's only really a benefit for unhackable mobos. With hackable mobo like yours you can use the custom IPL installer I believe, getting any of the 6.XX PRO CFWs permanent. I believe if you want to access PSN, it's easiest on 6.60 PRO, and you lose no features by going for 6.60 (all the PRO CFWs are the same) - you also gain no official features, other than PSN access, as Sony didn't bother adding anything.

Then there's ME - not sure what the latest is, but I think it's 6.60 ME-something. ME has less features, but might have all you need.

Actually, the dev of ME (neur0n) has contributed on PRO to add some of the features (iso video mount, iso mount and some more features; iirc, even the CIPL flasher was used first on his ME firmwares to promote perma patch on 6.39 and 6.60 firmwares on fully-hackable psps). I've never used ME, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't lack on features. The only negativity is the amount of bugs; I've heard quite a lot of them, but most aren't/weren't a big deal.

I'm still a PRO user, but I just didn't want people to get the wrong information when neur0n has been a great, reputable dev.

Yes neur0n has contributed features to PRO - it already had more than ME (ME = Minimal Edition, after all), and with the additional ones contributed by neur0n, it has even more so. ME is less featured than PRO (by design, as I said, it stands for Minimal Edition).

For the record, the reasons I don't suggest ME to people is that I'm usually asked stuff by users that don't know stuff yet, and I don't consider ME an option for new users, since it's most often experimental.

I recently got that 6.60 thing installed, seems to work just fine!

edit: I'm using a permanent firmware on my psp1000 cause to hell with temp CFWs

Basically its PRO with the ability to play ANY multi-player game ONLINE.

So i can go to the Mirage Arena, click online and without being near another PSP, be able to play with others. All i need is the net
