Couldn't you just use the official PSN rip of RE2?
nope it still needs the pops i tried official psn and wouldnt work due to lack of pops and cause it official and all that it dont look for pops

AFAIK PSN versions of games should work (from what I've read they have changes to negate the need for different POPS versions in most cases).

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, as always.
yeah but some psn games dont work on psps with cfw such as dino crysis freezes when you try to use a shotgun if it relied on pops you can use the shotgun. same with re2 it freezes when you go in rpd with pops the freeze doesnt happen.

Now includes 6.39 FWIW....

PRO-B6 Released! GPLv3 License.

Ah, I will make this one quick as I’m not too good with the whole release smalltalk.

Yes, it’s now available. For 3 different Kernel! 6.20, 6.35 and 6.39.

As promised, starting today, the project is licensed under the GPLv3 and fully opensource.

For grabbing the latest binaries, sourcecode aswell as tutorials on how to properly work it, check the Google Code Project site link on the right sidebar.

Oh before I forget it… the changelog.

[!]Fixed NODRM Engine on Dissidia Duodecim
[!]Fixed High Capacity Bug
[!]Fixed Bug in np9660
[!]Fixed button-input related startup freeze
[!]Fixed rare crash in exploiting stage
[+]Added 6.39 Kernel Support

Greetings, Coldbird.

Does this work with psp 3k? if so permanent hack?
Yes it supports PSP 3k.
But the permanent patch is only available for the 6.20 version.
If your PSP 3k can run 6.20 OFW, then the permament patch option is available for you, otherwise, ie 6.20+, you can only use the temperory 6.35/6.39 version.

In other words if your PSP has an 07g or 09g motherboard then no permanent hack for your 3000. Identify it using the System Info screen in the temp version so you'll know if a downgrade is safe (obviously if you're under 6.35 already you know it is).

Question, if I'm running OFW 6.35 and CFW 6.35 PRO-B5 and want to take a chance on 6.39 PRO-B6, do I need to install the OFW 6.39 first, or can I just install the 6.39 PRO-B6 and keep my PSP with OFW 6.35?

You need to upgrade first. Mismatching hack ingredients has been known to cause bricks.
When in doubt, follow directions.

If there is something you don't like about 6.39 pro, you can downgrade back.
I've upgraded and no problems so far.

Hey Snailface, I don't see the directions for the 6.39 anywhere. But thank you for the feedback, I'll give it a try tonight.

Regards.

I've followed the softmod guide to install 6.20 PRO-B6 Perm up to the point where I've just updated my OFW to 6.20 and placed the 6.20 PRO-B update folder and the Perm folder into my memory stick. For some reason, when I try to run the update file, my PSP goes to a black screen and nothing happens. Anyway to fix this?

I previously had 5.50 Prometheus installed. I used Hellcat's to downgrade to 5.00 just like in this guide, then updated to 6.20.

Why?...it's the same as the earlier versions as far as i can see bar one pointless Sony feature. You don't gain anything of any worth that you'd be utilising.

And yes you obviously need the OFW that corresponds to the CFW.

But wouldn't you be able to get on PSN with the OFW 6.39 (when it ever comes back online)?

Given you used to be able to get on with 6.35 PRO it's impossible to speculate with any accuracy whether access to the PSN will be restricted to 6.39 only. CB and VF may well have incorporated the 6.39 changes.
