Yes, a downgrader is probably the best option, but i guess he doesn't want to since then, eveyone would just downgrade to 6.20/6.35. And those firmware are often only related to PRO and not TN-HEN, and TN is often forgotten and credits are not given to him. Therefore i believe that he is working on a HEN so that people will recognise that it is work and such, but i guess it doesnt really matter if he doesn't release it to the public

I have to say that's incredibly egotistical of him, given the work he'd done with Coldbird and LZ before he decided to go it solo after PSPGen spurred him on. If he can downgrade (as he says he can) then i'm stunned that he wouldn't release that option so people can make up their own minds, rather than force his alternative on others.

What is fastrecovery folder utility?
What's Fast Recovery?
Fast Recovery is not a recovery menu!

It’s a “Fast Launcher for People who already have installed the CFW using the Updater” !

The Updater launches a Pre-Execution Environment to execute the Kernel Module Installer, this takes about 10 seconds extra time… however, once the CFW is installed there is no need for that anymore…

Fast Recovery is a fast app to recover CFW functions after they have been disabled by a system shutdown.

The Updater + Install + Reboot to PRO takes about 20 seconds total time…

Booting into PRO CFW using Fast Recovery takes 10 seconds only, but has no install / uninstall options.[/p]

Yes, but that is just my opinion anyways, he probably want to do it for more programming experience aswell, and maybe some new PSPs are on 6.36+, and besides if he does release it, i'm sure other devs will open that option so...

So we don't need to uninstall the PRO-B4 permanent patch first ? Just install B5 right over ?
Well i only assumed Kurossaki652 was on temp PRO B4
If your on permanent B4 i do believe, you should uninstall B4 permanent patch, and then install B5 and while on B5, install B5 permanent patch.
Might want to play it safe, because the replaced module for the permanent patch might change for every release, and if it does and you just install B5 over it, it might not load the B5 correctly, or even worse load nothing at all, rendering you with a brick, so its best to play it safe.

wow, you were able to make a permanent CFW for 3000 model (even on 9g?!) Amazing. Props to you coldbird!

Well actually you can't get permanent CFW for 3000 model 9g, since only the 6.20 version of PRO CFW has that option.......and i believe the 3000 9g model comes with firmware 6.30+, in which case you only upgrade to 6.35 and use the 6.35 version of PRO CFW, since you can't downgrade to 6.20 as the motherboard doesnt support it.
Only 03g and 04g PSP 3000 models support the permanent CFW since they came with firmware 6.20 or less.

Anyway
Model Generation Compatiblity:
•6.20 Version works for 1g, 2g, 3g, 4g and 5g models.
•6.35 Version works on all models up to 9g.[/p]

So if I were to buy a new PSP now (regardless of region), I could only use the 6.35 CFW and not the lower ones?

And which CFW has the best game compatability? (normal ISOs and emulations, such as PSX) Would it be better to try to buy a second-hand PSP

I have a friend with a 3004 and 6.10 OFW What is it he must do ? I imagined 6.20 PRO-B5 is a full firmware with the homebrew options added but i see now it's really small in size ,so it's more like a patch
So , he should first update to 6.20 OFW then install the PRO-B5 ? Also , permanent patch does it work on 30004 ? I don't know his date code or generation of MB ( that g number )
Will he brick if he applies the permanent patch and his PSP doesn't support it ?

Is there an online database or chart with info as psp model / mb model / date code / G version / can you downgrade it or not / what compatible cfw / can be permanented or not ?

I'm considering updating from 5.50 Prom-4 to 6.35 PRO-B5.

A few questions:
What's the compatibility like? (New games, old games, new games pre-patched for Prom-4, PSN PSX games, PSX Injects)
What's the difference between 6.20 and 2.35 PRO-B5? And which would you recommend?

...That's about it.

It's got a net ISO driver (Inferno) for PSP game compatibility, so unpatched games are it's focus, I don't know much else on PSP games. As for PSN PSX games, they should work fine. Custom PSX games might work, might not. There's no POPSloader to fix compatibility issues.

6.20 and 6.35 are the same CFW-wise, except that 6.20 can go permanent so I recommend it.

I've switched, not for the PSP games, but because it's (6.x) going to be the new platform people develop for.

Ah. Thanks Rydian! I have an early 2000, so I'm fine for the permanent CFW thing. Probably should've specified that...

EDIT: What firmware do I need to be on? I get an incorrect FW error...

Also, do I need to use an iso loader homebrew or does it work like Prom-4?

It can be permanent on any 1000, 2000, or Go, and it can be permanent on most 3000s.

You need to be on 6.20 OFW.

No ISO loader needed.
6.20 for 6.20 PRO-B5 and 6.35 for 6.35 PRO-B5 I take it.

And because I have an early 2000, I can always Pandora back to 5.00 M33 and work my way back up to Prom-4, right?

Yup you're right.

You can also use Hellcat's Recovery Flasher to go to m33 then prom 4.

Couldn't you just use the official PSN rip of RE2?
