If it wasn't for this update, they wouldn't have anything to show at E3 when it comes to 3DS. Now they can at least say "yeah, we've released this semi-finished, screen-scratching, expensive handheld with maybe 2-3 decent games (all ports) and graphics comparable to 6-years old PSP, but now you can at least browse internet and buy some more ported classics in our eShop !"
The problem is they have 40 games to show for 3ds.
I think you mean that they have very few titles out there to buy yet.
If you cannot buy a game, it does not exist.
That's not true. If you have no money at all, obviously you can't buy a game. In fact, there are many scenarios in which that statement is not true.

I'm just pissed the 3DS was released basically unfinished. Wouldn't it have been better to release it when the majority of outstanding features were ready. Day one should have had the browser and shop. We could have waited for the other stuff like the DSi transfer app. And now the update is getting pushed back.

I hope the update make the thing turn on faster.
Well then you shouldn't have pushed to to release it early last year.

Not sure what you are on about , then again I am not sure you do either.

I don't understand the people who bought the 3DS and complaining about the lack of features. Nintendo clearly stated that it wont have all the features from the start and people still complain about it? And even then, you would have known by searching some stuff for about the 3DS on the web.

People seriously need to research before buying stuff.

PS - Not directly targeted at you but the complainers.

I did research and I knew what was coming, I am just saying why bother for the sake of one month, selling something incomplete, it only leads to negativity, even more so when its delayed, even by a week or two.

I guess some folk don't has no patience.

You said "Well then you shouldn't have pushed to to release it early last year. " which is what I was saying didnt make sense to what I had written.

Its not about patience, its about bad marketing, if its not ready why sell something with functions missing and then delay it. A lot of reviews remarked on how they released it early with these functions missing.

All the articles I have read re the update quote the browser and shop coming on the 6th and 7th, not seen any mention of the system transfer, I hope that is still included.

Releasing things unfinished seems to be a trending model of Nintendo's online content.
I mean the pokémon dream world didn't launch until quite some time after the games themselves, in both japan and the rest of the world.
On top of that. we still don't have our Eeveelutions or Munna C-gear skin, what's up with that?
The promotions are practically finished, everyone has the code ready from either magazine or word of mouth, and the eeveelution game is done over a week ago.

Well the Earthquake was partly at fault. (No pun intended)
Oh right, I'd actually forgotten about that.
Even if that hadn't been the case it was still later than the initial game launch.

It’s not to do with what’s known and what wasn’t known. It’s to do with selling something early when waiting a few months would have given you a completed product to bring to market. It’s all to do with how it’s perceived and how it’s affected especially when you delay it. It's also an opinion to which people are entitled to have.

First of all dont talk about marketing if you dont know nintendo's fiscal year. It ends march that means if they want to show off how well their profit is that year to the investors they need to crank out everything before that and since they couldnt make the holiday season they waited past january when everyone would start to have money after the huge xmas gifting spree. Second of all nintendogs+cats has sold really well it would be stupid to wait for the 3ds to come out in june with this update and then release zelda and starfox along with nintendogs. The way they set it up most of their AAA titles can get a few weeks alone in the market to be bought and then they release the next game and so forth, its called being smart.Nintendo didnt force you to buy the 3ds at launch you chose to, if you really wanted the update but couldnt wait you could have waited for the update and then bought the 3ds its your choice to buy the product.

Opinion or not, they shouldn't (but can) complain about something they knew about beforehand or should have known about beforehand.

Your answer to your question is inside this post.
You may not be able to decode it though, since you can't seem to fathom someone typing something mistakenly.

I don't see how it's incomplete, minus the browser. It plays 3DS games, non? It plays DS games. AND it plays music. That's more then the original/DSLite ever could boast. You don't call them incomplete, do you? What Nintendo is giving us are ADD-ONs. The only thing I understand is the Browser. They shouldn't've even had the button there.

So many people assume that delaying the system would have made it better, but that's all it is. An assumption based on so little evidence to work with, which doesn't include all the company's internal data and business politics.

Nintendo and other companies have people who work full-time, analyzing their current situations, handling the politics, finances, etc., and know far more about what's best for the company than any of us could debate.

If it was in their best interest to delay the system as people assume it should have been, then they would have had dozens to hundreds of documents that would have proved that to be true before any announcement would have been made public. They don't make decisions just because they can. They have proof to back up their claims and decisions.

The only proof "assumers" have is after the fact.

So the update was delayed by a week. Big deal. They didn't give a definitive date before other than "late May", and that was just a projected date, not set in stone. Also understand that the new "set-in-stone" date is just prior to their own E3 press conference, which further implies that something special is going to happen involving the 3DS.

I like you POV, but just because it release on that day doesn't guarantee something special.

I'm going by the Nintendo site :-

Quote :-
"Nintendo of Europe has announced that the latest system update for the handheld Nintendo 3DS system will be available in Europe starting June 7.
By downloading the free update via a broadband Internet connection, Nintendo 3DS users can enjoy a number of new features and enhancements including an Internet browser and access to the Nintendo eShop, where users can browse and purchase downloadable content"

System transfer wasnt mentioned, where it has been prior to the recent announcement, thats why I am asking.

I guessed you typed your post mistakenly, but whatever way I read it you were having a go at me and it made no sense, most people would follow up with a sorry, not have another go at them.

I know about their fiscal year, it doesent affect how its percieved by people. As I said it was even mentioned in a number of reviews. Like them or not check the IGN website, lots of people read their reviews and they mentioned it there, a number of other sites and magazines said the same thing.

Dont forget this is an opinion, and people are entitled to them.

You are correct in saying it wasn't specifically mentioned but system transfer isn't something Nintendo would market as a "BIG" feature. If you read the text again it clearly states that there will be "a number of new features and enhancements", after that it goes on to say "including" at which point Nintendo will always market the biggest features in the update, so just because system transfer isn't mentioned doesn't mean it won't be in the end of May beginning of June update.

E3 and firmware update on the same day. I'm hyped up for it. The browser better be good hopefully they supported most of the features.

Eshop....hmm I don't really play classic games but I might get zelda so that I can complete the series, I've holded back on the gbc, gba, nes and snes versions.

You guys think they'll add a 3D video recorder, I wonder when the skysports content will be added. The 3DS has a lot of potenial.

Heh, so the new definition of "late (month)" is "(next month)."

The internet browser better be really good.

I thought you were one of the people who said they didn't want it early in a previous thread when it came up about the eshop not being ready.
It's satire.

I doubt the video recorder will be in this update, but they've been at it a while so maybe.

I don't understand the need to complain, since it won't change anything. Like everyone else, I have been really looking forward to this update, but it's not that much longer to wait. I only hope that on June 6th the servers won't be so busy that my update takes hours, and that the update addresses bugs and performance issues as well.
