Both Phoenix Wright and Story of Seasons are getting VR ports

Announced today during the Meta Connect, two pretty popular franchises are making the leap to VR: Story of Seasons and Phoenix Wright. More specifically, one of the more recent Story of Seasons games in A Wonderful Life, the remake of the GameCube and PS2 classic, and Dual Destinies, the first 3D Phoenix Wright game that originally launched on 3DS. Both got a fairly short trailer showing off new features, with Phoenix Wright allowing you to explore crime scenes much more vividly, and actually swing your arm forwards to present evidence to really get into it.

Story of Seasons by comparison looks a little more stripped back, reworking much of the game's UI to be VR friendly and turning the world into a series of smaller dioramas that you can look down upon and tweak with your hands.

At the time of writing, both titles are only announced for Meta platforms, with Phoenix Wright set to launch in 2027, and Story of Seasons not having a release date. With some luck we'll see these releases on other platforms in time.

I'm a big Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons fan, but that looks boring to me. it just looks like you're playing FarmVille. Phoenix Wright looks like it would be interesting.

This is definitely the boat I’m in. Story of Seasons looks fine but it really doesn’t look like it enhances the experience any. Phoenix Wright I could imagine exploring the crime scenes and acting out the trial theatrics being really fun.

It is really strange to me they decided to take Dual Destinies into VR. TGAA/SoJ would be better candidates. Not only is DD the weakest entry in the entire series, spin-offs included, it is also the only one where you cannot freely investigate any area you're in. The investigation which would clearly benefit the most from a VR version. And they did the game where you can only investigate the crime scene and nothing else... Even areas related to the crime scene can't be investigated most of the time... I am so confused.

And that is after accepting a VR Ace Attorney which more fundamentally does not really make sense. Like these are long visual novel games. I don't want to wear a headset all that time, when most of the time I'm just reading text...
