you need an old ds to update or you can use 3ds already updated?

The update instructions of r4i sdhc says:
QUOTEYou can not upgrade N3DS Card with N3DS V2.0.0. If your N3DS console has already been upgraded to N3DS V2.0.0, you will need another NDSL or NDSi or N3DS(which should be under version V2.0.0) to upgrade your 3DS flash card.

The reason is, that the only way to do the firmware update is to run an .nds file off the flash card.

You just had to be as patient as me

i only waited 1 and a half day before updating my 3ds

Just updated my R4i Gold 3DS with that patch. Now working on 3DS v2.0.0-2E. I used a DSi to do the update. I don't trust my 3DS to do updates. I have a feeling nintendo is doing something nasty to cards that try to update on the 3DS.

u need to go to the www.r4ids.cn website and download the 3ds patch kernal, and upgrade the r4card (follow the instruction in the txt file after you download the patch upgrade)...... the new patch kernal upgrades the r4card itself to work on the new 3ds fw2.0.0- , its not an update on the woodr4 software as the woodr4 software remains the same.

You need a 3ds (old firmware) or dsi or dsl to complete upgrade of the r4 card

The update does not update the kernel. It reflashes the chip on the card with a new bootloader. Therefore the only way to update your card is to run the update on a DS/DS Lite/DSi. Can you not borrow one off a friend or "try one out" in a store.

have u updated the 3ds fw already? if not you can use 3ds with the new dsi.nds patch file.
if you have updated the fw and absolutely can not find anyone else with an old 3ds fw or dsi or dsl, buy a new r4i gold (you can find them for like $12 with some sellers) just ask the seller or make sure with the seller that the new r4 gold you are buying has the patch on it or ask the seller to put the patch on it before it ships

There is a difference between Kernel and Firmware:
- The kernel is the software you can see. It is placed as .dat-Files on the SD-Card
- The firmware is written on a ROM-Chip in the DS-Module. It is responsible for display the game-icon and booting the kernel. Even if you have no sd-card in the ds-module, the game-icon may shown.

The "Patch" does update your firmware, NOT the kernel.
If the firmware not works (cause nintendos update blocks it) it can not boot the kernel. But a running kernel is needed, to execute the patch, which patches the firmware.
There is no chance to fix a blocked flashcard without a working system. As mentioned multiple times: you need a unpatched 3DS or a working DS(i)

....How damn long will it take Team Cyclops to patch iEVO to work with 3DS 2.0.0.x update? Yes it works somewhat in DSi mode but not in DS mode anymore and wifi support still needs fixing in DSi mode too. Seems like many of the other flash card makers are solving the problem...damn it...get off your A$$ TC and fix the problem!!!

I have a pink r4i3ds card and I just checked their website and no update posted yet (r4i3d_dot_com).
I updated yesterday since I wanted to check out the new browser and the E3 awesome game trailers (and get my free excitebike). Unfortunately the cart also errors out when trying to load after the spongebob icon.

The Evo team seems to take soooo damn long to releaes updates. My Acekard 2i has never failed me

. The AK team is so fast, you have to wonder if the other developers are just getting drunk rather then working on a fix.

Can someone confirm, if i have an empty micro sd card. what do i put on first, ie.. extract the V1.51B kernel onto the micro SD, then extract the Wood R4 V1.30 ontop of the microSD card, overwriting the files ?

or do i only need wood, ? why is there 2 files to download ?

try the r4itt.net ones
look at your cards website and see the ad for the new card then look on r4itt's same new card
you could also look at the whois for any of the sites you'll see they are registered by the same person (this guy owns a lot of clone websites but not all the updates are compatible with all cards, but trying wont damage anything so try it)

Days like this make me glad that I got an Acekard, although I can't stand the resolution on the 3DS with DS games so I still have my DSi for DS games, but it's nice to know there's always an option for DS gaming on my 3DS, at least for now.
