I'm asking on behalf of a friend, she moved from the US to the EU so her new 3DS is American while she has a EU Nintendo Online account her Switch. She's currently playing through the Pokémon series and is up to Black/White next but worries about transferring her Pokémon onward.

If I remember correctly if she buys a EU copy of B/W it won't boot on her US 3DS with stock FW right? So if we Luma her 3DS the game should run though will she run into any issues later on with Pokémon Bank transferring to Home if she has a US 3DS and a EU Nintendo Online account?

DS games have no region protection. Any DS game will boot on any 3DS.

As for whether a US-based Pokemon Home account will work with an EU Nintendo Online account, I have no idea. Sounds kind of unlikely.

Oh does that also apply to DSi enhanced games?

I believe she will first need to use PokeTransporter to get BW into Bank, yeah? I can see how PKSM could be super beneficial in this endeavor, but not exactly necessary. I’ve gone through each transition up to Home, and I’d be really curious to know the outcome here, as I can’t recall a step in the process where region mismatching could create an error. Wishing the best to you both!

Perhaps you can enlighten us, because I have no idea what makes you think that?
Ahh I didn’t really expand on that, huh? I believe when using PokeTransporter you can only move one page (~30) of mons at a time (between, say, BW -> XY), whereas PKSM has the built-in storage for all of their mon (~30+ pages), and would make for a less time-consuming transition.

Not that one can “hear” things through the internet, but it “sounded” like maybe you were not a big proponent of PKSM? I’d be super curious to know why, if you wouldn’t mind! Especially if that program is not something I should be recommending for a usage case like this. (I could also be hearing things!) Thanks!

I see. It never occurred to me that someone might want to move that many Pokemon at once.

I could not think of any reason why it would be super beneficial compared to something with basically the same functionality.

Thinking about it some more, I suppose PKSM lets you clone Pokemon as you transfer them, whereas if you used PokeTransporter, you would have to manually back up and restore your save data in order to do the same thing.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.

@SylverReZ, atleast wiimmfii went fine although people only use it for Mario kart Wii
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
At least if they ban you for cheating, get another Wii. They're cheap as chips.

Remember when RiiShop was a thing?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
    not really
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
It got shutdown because somebody "accidentally" leaked the database for the amount of people using the beta.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
RiiShop is the laziest way of downloading Wii games. Did somebody not think of this through?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
although i ended up accidentally changing my nand with no way of going back bc i didn't know you needed a gamecube controller to restore it (i have a wii minus/1.1, which doesn't have gamecube controller support)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, I think you're talking about the recovery mode that the SaveMii used, and also was to restore softbricked systems.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
If your NAND was hardbricked, then just buy another Wii. Or go with the dirty NAND flasher method.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and if i find the sd card i have my NAND backed up on, i can not only restore the NAND if i solder the right part in, but i can also put my NAND on dolphin, then i can play dolphin online, like PMEX Remix or MKWii Riibalanced
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    Brb
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, Oh yeah, that was a thing too. Dolphin does support Wiimmfi.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
yeah you just need to put your NAND backup with wiimmfi on it
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
ngl i feel like if a bunch of my friends have wiis and know how to get wiimmfi and back up their NAND, then we could do a PMEX Remix tournament

maybe even add UMVC3/DBFZ and make it a biathlon/triathlon
