Hardware 3DS or N3DS?

Hello and greetings,
I am debating between a 3DS and a N3DS. I am not so enthusiastic about the MicroSD card slot, I am neutral to stable 3D, but I want something that will stay modern and concurrent for a long while. Is the N3DS really worth the hype, as I know that the 2DS will remain standard for a while due to that there isn't exactly a "N2DS" being announced, and the 2DS and the 3DS inter compatible. Any response is helpful.

o3ds :
(o3ds is any model 3ds released before the n3ds, like the 2ds or 3dsxl)
+is way cheaper then the n3ds
+hacks usually come first
±smaller so therefore more portable, in exchange for a smaller screen(as compared to xl models)
-worse 3d
-reboot patches
-less stable if you use a micro sd
-requires a downgrade to 2.1 for a9lh
-less games library (n3ds exclusives, like xenoblade chronicles)

+better 3d
+larger game selection
±micro sd only
-c stick in the original model is tiny
-more secure
-if you decide to use emunand (which you shouldnt) it takes 2gb of sd space
-Power is on the bottom, increasing accidental shutdowns

Isn't it possible that, as Nintendo said, they'll continue with the 3DS and the Switch? After all, imagine Pokémon being played with 1 screen again, like it was until gen 4, but now with Pokémon's new graphics? And the Switch may miserably fail just like the Wii U did, so they'll need their long-term friend 3DS again,which has already survived 6 years and is ready to survive 6 more years.

I like that reasoning. The N3DS should stay concurrent, even in the first 2-3 years of the switch, unless ofcourse if they abandon The Switch after the first 12-18 months, then it might remain a standard.

I hear it's easy to press on the XL, but hard to press on the small n3DS. It's definitely hard to press on my small one, I wish they would have just left the power button in an easy to press but hard to press by accident location like on the o3DS.

Yeah, I'm planning on getting a small 3DS or N3DS.

O3DS:
+Cheaper, the amount depends of the model though. (N3DS 239.99$; 3DS XL 199.99$; 2DS 109.99$)
+Easier to find a hackable 3DS
±No FTP included (There's always some homebrew that does it)
±Bulky and heavy (compared to N3DS)
-Less NTR Plugin compatibility
-Subpar graphics for N3DS enhanced graphics
-Can't use the "multitask application" while playing a N3DS enhanced game (like the web browser)

N3DS:
+Can be overclocked with A9LH+Luma
+Have Unity engine
+Can play SNES games
+Second joystick integrated (which is great for many games)
+Have all the option of NTR plugin
+STABLE 3D!!! (I always use 3D shhh XP)
±Have FTP included
-By no mean fingerprint-proof (the material used to make the N3DS seems to love having fingerprints all over it)
-May heat more than a O3DS if overclocked (that was to be expected)

Otherwise, @Sketchy1 bullet point is also valid.

Oh, also, I have a N3DS XL and it is actually pretty hard to shut down, even when I'm playing on my belly.

Yeah, I'm planning on getting a small 3DS or N3DS.

Personally I'd recommend the n3DS, stable 3D makes worlds of difference and the screen size is a bit bigger than the small o3DS, while not increasing the overall size of the console. It's the perfect screen size for the resolution IMO.
The C-stick is very useful in certain games, though not used by enough games to make it worth a purchase for that alone.

N3DS or N3DS XL? Also, what's the "iconic" color of the XL? O3DS is aqua blue and N3DS is white with fully-colored AXBY buttons, but what about the XL?

I have a new3DS (non-XL) and I am pretty happy with it. It really depends on if you want a bigger screen or not. As well the new3DS (non-XL) you can change out the faceplate, which is pretty cool.

I'd say that the O3DS is somewhat worth the discount, it may just be the, what I call the, "C64C" model of the 3DS line. (Not that I will likely get it, my budget may decide for me. )

Not really. The hardware is getting older and games have really started to struggle to support it. Games like Pokemon, MH, and many more take much longer to load and their framerates drop something horrible.
It's completely worth spending the extra dollar to get better hardware.

My O3DS felt warm for some games, like Hyrule Warrior or Pokemon. It is not really a problem on a N3DS XL, it's just that I think it drains more battery because it become warmer (or it is just the overclock in gneral that uses more battery, I wouldn't know)

I wasn't going to play many new games. I just like it's flash support and the built in c-stick. However, I probably will purchase the N3DS. Otherwise, my budget will likely decide.
