Yeah, I have it on the SD card, but I'm using RXtools. I see several options, but the problem is that I have no idea how to use them. I'm just scared I'll make a mistake and possibly ruin Omega Ruby, which I'd prefer not to do since time is precious.

If you look at this picture, here's an example of somebody using it:
1428933678-rxtool.jpg

The problem is that I don't know if that works for game cartridges like Omega Ruby and/or if it will make the save playable in emuNAND. That's what I have to figure out. I could restart my whole Omega Ruby game, but I don't have time for that. Similarly, I don't know if RXtools' decryption process is reversible. I can't find any good tutorials that will reassure me of these things.
Yes, after you decrypt a game using rxTools, you can rebuild the game (I have done so). I do not believe you can decrypt a cartridge with rxTools, as when it decrypts a rom, it's still a single file, but the files can be extracted from the rom at that point. A good tutorial for decrypting roms, especially the Pokemon games can be found here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutoria...d-3ds-roms-run-xy-oras-without-update.383055/

For the N3DS you need either Ocarina of Time or Cubic Ninja (from the same region as your N3DS) to run GW. If you use OoT you must inject an exploit save to the cart using another 3DS that can already use GW or a save dongle. For CN you just scan a QR code and the save downloads and installs on the cart. After you have the exploit loaded you can set up emuNAND, launch GW mode, etc.... At that point you can also install the MSet exploit on your sysNAND so you don't need a gamecart to launch GW after that.
Both very expensive games. So I guess I'll have to sell my Gateway and buy a Sky3DS instead.

...wait so I only need the OoT game once? hmm... I'm in north America so getting a PAL copy might be difficult. Could I use a Sky3DS to run the exploit? (that might be cheaper and easier to find than a PAL copy of OoT)

Just to confirm, the exploit works on the 'new' 3DS?

Here's a statement that I found here:
If started the game cartridge on SysNAND 6.0.0 or above, then the cartridge is ONLY compatible with EmuNAND Classic mode with SysNAND 6.0.0-9.2.0.
Omega Ruby was started on a 7.2 sysNAND (just a regular old 3DS). Does this mean that, on my hacked 3DS, if I update the sysNAND to 7.2 (which Omega Ruby will let me do) it will magically become compatible with the emuNAND and sysNAND?
Is a save from EmuNAND compatible with SysNAND?
If played from ROM: Yes

If played from Cartridge: It depends on the game and SysNAND.

The reason:

  • Since System Menu version 6.0.0, there is a new save encryption method (using a different KeyY).
  • We call the new encryption method "KeyY 6.0 method".
  • The KeyY 6.0 method causes all incompatibilities.
For games don't request KeyY 6.0 method:

  • It's compatible with EmuNAND Classic mode regardless of SysNAND version.
For games request KeyY 6.0 method:

  • If started the game cartridge on EmuNAND Classic mode with SysNAND 4.1.0-5.1.0, then the cartridge is ONLY compatible with EmuNAND Classic mode with SysNAND 4.1.0-5.1.0.
    • Playing this cartridge on SysNAND 6.0.0 or above will CORRUPT YOUR SAVE DATA!
  • If started the game cartridge on SysNAND 6.0.0 or above, then the cartridge is ONLY compatible with EmuNAND Classic mode with SysNAND 6.0.0-9.2.0.
    • Playing this cartridge on EmuNAND Classic mode with SysNAND 4.1.0-5.1.0 will CORRUPT YOUR SAVE DATA!
For dumped save from games requesting KeyY 6.0 method:

  • It's incompatible with EmuNAND ROM mode regardless of SysNAND, because EmuNAND ROM mode doesn't support KeyY 6.0 method.
Games using the KeyY 6.0 method

Nearly all games since late 2013 are using the KeyY 6.0 method. Such as:

  • Pokémon X/Y/OR/AS
  • Monster Hunter 4G
  • Zelda ALBW
  • Bravely Default
  • Disney Magical World
  • Majoras Mask 3d
  • (Add more games here)

The game itself will be compatible with both nands but the savefiles won't, you see sysnand and emunand have different ways of saving, so if you start playing on emunand and then go to sysnand with the same cardtrige it will tell you it's corrupted and ask you to delete the savefile. It happens the otherway around too.

Oh, okay, that makes sense. Is there any way that I can keep the same save but convert it easily so I can choose how to use it in sysNAND and emuNAND? I need to be able to use the same save on both with the same cartridge.

I have a N3DS on 9.0 (9.4 emuNAND) and am unable to connect to the eshop to download game updates the traditional way. What, if anything, can I do?

I tried downloading and installing an update as a cia file, but the game still prompts me to download/install an update, so I don't think that worked.

Edit: Tried ripping the game I was testing with (Xenoblade) and loading it as a .3ds file and it recognizes the installed update. Apparently only .3ds (or .3dz?) files will see installed cia updates, not official game carts in classic mode.

How exactly do I update emuNAND? Do simply goto the update screen or is there files I need to put on my 3ds first?

If you are using an a regular 3DS or a 2D just make sure you are booted into emunand, go into system settings and update from there.

If you are using a N3DS you can't do this or you'll get a black screen since emunand 9.8 isn't supported on N3DS, you'll have to use 3DNUS to manually download the 9.4 update and install it since that's the last one suported for now.

If the game requires a 9.5+ update you won't be able to play it since it's a firmware update is what the game is asking for, unless you spoof the cia to make a game play at an older firmware.

You can install game updates just fine, just make sure you are using the right ones.

Specifically game updates. I can still play the games, but every time I go to start the game it asks me if I want to download and install the update file(s). It seems if I boot into Gateway Mode and play using roms then the installed cia file updates are recognized, but if I try to go into Classic Mode and use the retail cart(s) then the installed cias are not recognized.

Okay, I need help again. Let me go through everything and what I'm trying to accomplish. I have a CFW on my 3DS XL. My sysNAND is 4.2 and my emuNAND is 9.8.0-25U.

My Omega Ruby retail cartridge game's save is corrupted when I play it on emuNAND, but when I play on an old, non-CFW, non-hacked 3DS updated to the latest software, it the save loads and works fine. So my real question is figuring out how to use SaveDataFiler. Can I use it to export the save on to the computer and then somehow edit it so that it's playable in emuNAND? I just don't know what to do now.

When I look at SaveDataFiler, this is what I get, and I don't understand any of it:
p80I4w4.jpg

I just need a way to be able to play this same save on both sysNAND (7.2 and above, I know, for ORAS) and emuNAND. Basically, switch between my non-hacked system and my emuNAND. I'm so lost.

Do you mean 9.3.0? I've not heard of Smash ever requiring anything other than 8.1 and 9.2. I know on release the game required 8.1 and later on new Smash carts started coming out with 9.2. Since you're on pasta, you can try downloading a .cia version of the game and that shouldn't give you any issues.
Yes 9.3.0 sorry. Get it mixed up. The 1.0.8 update has 9.3 encryption or something I guess so it won't play on my 9.0.0, it seems a lot of people had this problem though (as nobody wants to go above 9.2.0) so I wasn't sure if a workaround had been developed. Maybe firmware spoofers for the cubic ninja homebrew channel or something?

i got mh4u working online and i spent too many hours to lose, i want to add a new game to my sky3ds but i dont have my old template with the unique ID, chip ID and unknown ID for that game and i dont wont to lose my saved data by just slapping in a new template.

Is it possible to extract the template from my sky3ds? if not, can i extract my coding and copy and paste it on to a new template?

I have another question, could we still play next coming games? such as Hyrule Warrior Legends?
And of what it depends? Does it depends of coming emunand or we need to decrypt keys?
Thanks! :)

I think you can just use a new template for your new games, monster hunter will be fine since it's already written into the memory card, it isn't like you are writing Monster Hunter everytime that you add a new game.

Yes, you only need one of the games once to install the MSet exploit. After that, you don't need to use the game ever again to launch the exploit. Sky3DS will work to run the exploit, just download a rom of Cubic Ninja, install it on the Sky3DS and you can run the exploit through it. Yes, the OoT and CN exploits work on the New 3DS.

As long as we can update emuNAND and new keys are not implemented, we should be able to play all new games on the O3DS. As for the N3DS, we are still stuck behind the new encryption they implemented in 9.6 and if they begin using a new SDK for the new games, it could be a while before we are able to play those new games on the N3DS.

It seems that you are correct about the 1.08 update containing 9.3 encryption. Looks like the only solution for now is emuNAND. If you uninstall the update does the game run fine? If that's the case, you should be able to play offline, but online will be blocked until a solution is found.

It is possible to unbrick it, but it requires a backup of your 3DS's NAND.

Not currently. It should be possible, but nobody has implemented this functionality to a CFW yet.
Ok, so i do have a nand backup from before i downgraded. It was on 7.x something, would that work? If so can you guide me to a place where i can learn how to do it

I have a question regarding headers and Sky3DS.
From what I understand, you can extract a header from any game and then copy that header to the game you want to play online.
With no way to extract headers using Sky3DS, AFAIK you need Powersaves or Gateway, can't I just download some obscure shovel ware game and use the header from that rom to play online?
Making it only risky if someone used the same header from the same obscure game to play online? :S

How can I transfer files from my DSi to my 3DS without updating my system? I need to update my system on my system NAND and it doesn't seem to work on emuNAND.
