Sonic Lost World, Lego games, Netflix, YouTube, etc

I think we can all agree that the video (and sometimes even game) quality of many 3DS games are either blurry, pixely, or downright ugly.

So I thought it would be a cool idea to have some sort of tool that could change the default resolution of overall games, but also have a setting that allows you to keep the resolution of specific games.
Because some games have beautiful resolution quality.

But seriously, some are so bad that I literally thought someone amateurishly shot the lego movie from theaters on his 2005 camcorder and used it for the game cutscenes.

So, just wondering what the odds of accomplishing this would be.
Seeing such low quality scenes can REALLY throw of your gaming experience.

I think you might be able to encode fresh moflex cutscenes from the lego movie blu-ray source and inject them into the rom... just like any rom hack.

First of all:

What?

But seriously, that's not how this works. You can't just add resolution where there is none to begin with, let alone the fact that something like changing videos in a rom is not a thing, or did you ever see anything like that?

Actually, I have seen a few game hacks/mods that have done that. Like Brianuu sonic's Sonic generations hack, where he replaced the cutscenes with sonic 06 cutscenes.
Or smash bros hacks where people have edited the opening movie.
I'm guessing things are a bit different for the 3DS though?

It shouldn"t work with YouTube in any possible way since how it works is essentially a Browser, the speed it have don"t go very well with higher resolutions and also YouTube page is adapted and detected to it by Google to load videos at the resolution it does. You can exit by some ways the YouTube page and load vide

Are you talking about resizing internal texture resolutions like some PC emulators can? Cause texture sizes in games are low res for a reason, we're carrying a low clock-rate processor around, not an R9 Fury X.

Like, changing the aspect ratio, or something like that. You know, how when you look at 3DS gameplay off youtube, it's all in poor quality cause everything is stretched? I mean, what if it was in letterbox format, where everything isn't stretched.
Also, good point, never thought of that.

He said he can't afford a Wii U. He's definitely not going to be able to afford a PC that can emulate Wii U games well.
Haha, well said.

Besides. I can live with the quality. My main beef is just the fact that it's so poor. I mean, I know they could have done better somehow.
It's distracting. I know I sound like a child, but it feels like Wii U to 3DS ports are always lazily done (with the exception of Hyrule Warriors Legends)

I see, that maybe not sound so good. If you have a PC maybe you can try emulators. I dunno how well they work but never hurts to try. :)
I had Citra, but I couldn't figure out how to work it, and like Roomsaver said, my Laptop probably can't run games on it. With my 4 GB and basic graphics card.
I can hardly use Dolphin on minimum settings.

It's something that can absolutely not be changed unless you hack the rom itself and replace the scene which is not possible
Darn. Oh well, its not like the cutscenes are anything gamebreaking. just ugly. xD

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Or when your player dies, you can say in code, if enemy exists, do nothing, but if enemy does not exist, then create enemy at certain spot. (This would be a pain tho for lots of emeies)

Easiest, simple way would be just restart scene, but player would restart from beginning.
