Hacking 3DS Flashcarts - News, Updates, and Support Thread

I bought a used 3DS with firmware 4.1.0-6E dirt cheap.
What is it that actually bricks 3DS's?
Is it because people have been fiddling about and editing the files?
And if I buy a flash cart and DON'T edit anything, it won't brick?

Should I lay low or should I buy a flash cart?
I'm choosing between Gateway 3DS and MT Card 3DS.

The Launcher based off 2.0B2 contain a bricking code that gets triggered if the file was edited (and a check was bypassed). You can't brick it using the latest files from the official website of the flashcard manufacturers.
You should wait for GW Final 2.0 and the next MT firmware before you decide which of both you'll buy.

Soooooo... No news at all after nearly one month not only from gateway but from any other flashcarts... its been like frozen for a while after so many stuff that was going on and now...

Sell it and invest in one with 4.5? Then you can join the fun =) the Clones have stopped updating as they have nothing to clone. R4i is promising multiROM 'soon' lol. For all the flack the GW team have taken they are still driving this whole thing for now and the foreseeable future.

But MT Card 3DS has MultiROM-support, and it's a clone (with some own modifications) of GW, or am I wrong? :/

MT card aint quite polished though, and it seems they didnt released anything of their post-release promises, such as more compatibility, emunand and shitz, I think they're waiting for Gateway to release their new firmware and see what they should do to polish their multirom functionnality...

we can't say anything about what MT will do since they havn't done much until now. Their website states that their new features will come "soon".

I'm guessing GW is the way to go, since it's the original after all.
But, I found a place where they sell GW considerbly cheaper than other places near me, so I wonder if there are any reports of clones that look like GW but aren't legit floating around?
How do I know if the GW I purchase is actually legit?
