Can't update my Emunand. It starts by loading Gateway mode, either GUI or old way, and loads a gray bar screen. If it works, it takes about 3 seconds for grey lines to disappear, if it freezes I have to hold power til it shuts off.
Then, I see the GW3D and attempt to update. Instead, it moves like a quarter inch then says there's and error and must reboot. I tried about 10 times at least trying different things such as keeping my WiFi off until right before updating, deleting connection settings, how to boot into Gateway mode. Nothing, still stops and resets.
Any ideas? Anyone else with this issue?

I just want to follow up on the "save data is corrupt" issue. When I put Pokemon Y back into my 2nd, legit 3ds, it worked just fine. No problems, I didn't lose my save.

Does that mean like injecting say, 6.x on runtime in order to play retail cards, while keeping the 4.x as the official installed one?

This means that you can boot a backup of your 3DS NAND, updated to 6.3 and boot retail cartridges that require a firmware higher than 4.5. GW 2.0 comes with that option.

Oh ok thanks. So I assume you make the NAND backup of 4.x then via some utility or something you update to 6.3?

...
The steps are the next:
-Back up your 3DS SD card.
-Ensure you have more than 1GB left available.
-Boot GW 2.0 GUI and select.
-Select the back up NAND option and wait about 45 until it finishes.
-Back up NAND.bin from your SD card to your PC. This backup will come handy if something goes wrong in the future.
-Select "Format EmuNAND".
-Copy your backed up 3DS files to the new partition of your SD card.
-Boot GW mode.
-Go to system settings and ensure the version of system is displayed as GW3DS 4.5.U-10, otherwise don't proceed.
-Update through system settings.
-"Enjoy retail 3D games"

My 3DS freeze (grey strip on both screen) every time i try to boot to GW/Classic mode from GW GUI  But it can boot normally to GW mode (choose DS Profile without holding L) :O Had anybody have same problem as mine, and if it's possible, could you tell me how to fix it ^_^

I have faced a similar issue, just reboot your console, re-launch the DS exploit from your R4 properly and then retry, thats how I fixed it.

I had to reapply the DS exploit for some reason and I'm suspecting that the DS exploit is somehow "stored" on the SD card since that's what I changed when the exploit disappeared.

is it safe to update through pokemon X cart instead through system? i have sucky internet now... so i prefer to update through cart if it's possible

lol it's completely unsafe. You can, but the risk exists, you may end up updating the actual NAND. Personally, even knowing how this works, I wouldn't risk my system.

lol.. better play it safe then than sorry later.. thanks for the reply

Do you have to always put in gateway when u boot gateway UI? What happen to the back up Nand? Do you just put it in your computer as a backup and delete it from your S3dD card or do you just keep the NAND backup in your 3dSD?
