I mean that they don't exist for retail cartridges, well, actually there are not patches for regular cartridges. And about the first point, I honestly didn't bother to read the other posts.

I was principally referring to the issue for which you can't use emunand if realnand (and therefore the newly created emunand) is 4.1. if emunand is already at 7.1 I should be able to use it, right?

As far as I can remember, nothing like that has happened, so you could even create a brand new emuNAND in 4.1; but you are the one with a 3DS in 4.1 so you perhaps know better than me.

ok I'm gonna try 2.0b1 as soon as I stop playing pokemon X.
anyway, are the retail games' saves partially stored in the sd card? nothing will go wrong if I use 2.0b1 having started the game with 2.0b2, right?

Retail games save to the cartridge, but that does sound like a cool feature.

No, Gateway has no effect in "Classic mode" other than for the emuNAND, so the saving process is exactly the same as it is with a regular 3DS on 7.1, however, there's this problem with the encryption that only causes incompatibility with regular systems, but nothing else.

Ok, so I personally wanted to email gateway in a way where I could get a more elaborate response, but it didn't work out that well:
here is what I asked:
"Hi there gateway team. I clearly understand that you guys have been getting
emails quite frequently about the 2.0 final update and about console bricking
issue. I wanted to ask about two things I was hoping to get answers from the
actual gateway team rather than relying on rumors.

1-) Is it true that the final 2.0 update will be released not soon, but within the next 24-48 hours?

2-) Is the update going to be a beta (not containing all the features
outlined on the official website.) or will the update actually be the final
2.0 update with all the mentioned features (multirom-drag and drop- new menu
system- x,y animal crossing support- fixed save issues.)

3-) Do you guys as a team, plan to remove the bricking code from the new 2.0
update? Many people have been downgrading to older firmware and are currently
avoiding the 2.0b2 update (offical gateway users.) Some gateway users have
gotten bricked consoles and we, as customers, feared similar issues so we downgraded.

Me, and many others would greatly appreciate it if these answers are Fully
answered. I do plan on sharing your response with the rest of the 3ds
community online. This could reduce the amount of people emailing you guys; I know it's a nuisance.

Thank you very very much."

Here is gateway's response:

From what I can tell, it seems that another beta is going to be released. They seem to be really full of themselves and conceited, but it does seem they really are willing to help people with bricked consoles (bricked by gateway official firmware.)

The guy answering the emails from Gateway seems to be living under a rock.

placebooooo completely disregarding the bricked-with-gateway cases.

btw I tried 2.0b1 and retail pokemon X has the save and works. I couldn't ask for anything better.

what do you mean exactly?

That he seems unaware that the issue with the bricks has been numerously reported by trusted members. Regardless of all the speculation and hypothesis about the supposed bricker code, it is just something that is actually happening; yet they don't seem aware of this in their responses.

Or he's just ignoring everything relevant.

Who knows? They are just not handling the situation correctly (regardless if their intention is to play safe or not).

whatever the hell it is they updated on their website makes no sense at all. Why would they want us to download the 2.0b2 update when it caused even official gw users to be bricked? It's as if they want us to really update.

They're turning into anti-piracy Nazis and bricking systems! /sarcasm

Yeah, this announcement is a terrible one, it just makes them look worse.

they are really nintendo ,this whole thing was just an elaborate scheme to get people to buy new 3ds systems

Seems gateway and therefore 3DS piracy as a whole will encounter a serious problem once games require 7.0.0:

https://twitter.com/Mathieulh/status/423877433570648064

You can also read the following 3DBrew site. The important part is "FIRM and whitelist":

http://www.3dbrew.org/wiki/7.0.0-13

It seems that nintendo found a way to stop piracy on the 3DS. The upcoming games will need a key in order to be playable. This key will be generated BEFORE Native_Firm is booted. Since this key is not contained in 4.5.0 it can't be generated and since the Native_Firm is not booted again when entering emuNAND, it neither can be generated by emuNAND.

As far as I know there are only two ways to break this:

Finding an exploit for 7.0.0 or
Getting a bootrom dump through chip decapping

This might stop 3DS piracy for quite some time...

so its similar to what Nintendo did with the 6.0.x saves. someone that has had success contacting gateway should ask them about it and if they've figured out the save issue as well.

ive emailed them in the past a number of times but they never respond.
