Gaming 3DS firmware update

I'm fairly confident no one's system is going to get bricked by an update should they use a flash card in their 3DS. That being said, I'm also fairly certain Nintendo will be proactive in combating any type of hacking on the system. Whether or not they will be successful is another matter entirely. Anyway, we've discussed this before at length, and the legal ramifications associated with bricking systems would seem pretty severe. Nintendo have been doing this for a long time, and they're not militant. It's all about money, and doing something that radical is way out of their scope of remedies, I'm sure.

We'll get the browser, the shop channel, and the ability to transfer DSiWare from DSi to 3DS. We also may see some type of attempt to block the use of flash cards on the system, but that's about as far as I can see it going.

to be on the safe side, I'm going to leave my legit 3DS game, SFIV in the slot rather than my AK2i during an update. I actually haven't used my flashcard since buying the 3DS.
I am just waiting for the release of a new 3DS flashcard I guess, I really want some new homebrew.

I read somewhere it will be released next week.

How true this is we will have to see.

I don't like the fact Nintendo is holding back features at the moment.

Flash carts that are currently working should still work with the next update as Nintendo are struggling with disabling them without blocking genuine games

Virtual console, eshop, Browser with html5 and Flash.
And the blocking of flashcarts of course.
3DS has flash support??

Yes.
orly?
wareugotdisinfo?

Just because it's got netfront, isn't confirmation of anything.
Opera has flash and html5 and loads of other WEB3 stuff, but the wii and dsi versions didn't.

I'm looking forward to 3D video capture and playback. More importantly to find the codec and code 3D movies.

My thoughts are that Nintendo better have some stability updated in addition to all the new features. I keep getting black error screens once in a while, but I get the feeling it's fixable through an update, unlike the 360's RROD. It's random too, but it seemed to start around the time I was adding .mpo pics to my SD card. I always reboot my system before starting a game now, since I don't want to lose my progress.

Also, my streetpass no longer works with my co-workers 3DS, ever since we added each other to our friends list. We used to streetpass each other every day at work, collecting each other's puzzle pieces and whatnot. One night we texted each other and added our friends codes, and now our 3DS can't detect each other. We both get streetpass hits from customers in the shop, so we know our settings and hardware are correct. I've found many posts on this same problem throughout the net.

If Nintendo has these problems solved, I wish they wouldn't wait until May, and release a small update to fix these issues. As for the May update, I'm doing it because there's a ton of great features I simply must have.

Wikipedia
DS game card drivers upgraded to that of DS Lite (for example, in the beginning of Mario Kart DS, Mario says "here we go!" instead of "Yahoo!")

For real? I've never heard of that, and didn't think that was possible...

Also, we know we are getting the eShop, DSiWare/Trasnfer, Browser, and Virtual Console. I'm hoping for a messaging system. ATLEAST give us a set of pre-set messages for now (Like, ______ would like to play _____ with you.) I think Nintendo will give us some trailers for videos on the eShop too.

I don't see Netflix or video recording coming in the May update.

I like this idea. Voice chat sounds good, and everyone wants message support because the other good systems use it... My extra idea, based on the voice chat idea: a Video Chat feature similar to that of Skype or MSN... It's just an idea, but I bet you guys would like something like it...

Instead of the Nintendo 3DS saying "2 friends online" I rather see the names of the friends who are on. On a more realistic note, just a simple messenger.

Do you all really think the update will be that big? Did Nintendo say they were adding major features with the new update? (Please don't ask me to google it -_-. I'm asking because I don't know and am hoping that someone will tell me here)

Straight away, I want to buy Super Mario Land and Zelda, so yeah...
And I don't have a working flashcard for the 3DS anyway.

Downloading right away for VC games and web browser. Yeah I know my PC has a browser but its a desktop and I'd like to be able to browse web pages wireless anywhere in my house.
