So today I went to the Nintendo Connection Tour. It was pretty awesome. I played Skyward Sword, Mario 3D Land, MK7, and Kirby Wii, to name a few.

My main point of interest were the Dev units they had out! I managed to get to the home menu on one, so I explored around and took a video!

I have no idea if this kind of stuff has been posted before, or if there a videos out there, but this is what I got!

Thoughts?

Meh, if I were you, I would have taken the 3DS and RUN. Then the 3DS hacking scene would be in full blow with that DEV MENU... Or would it? Did it do anything to help?

When I first saw a Dev unit months ago, I was all "Whaaaaaaaaaaat?"

But yeah. Pretty interesting.

QUOTE(FireGrey @ Sep 25 2011, 11:05 PM) what about mario kart 7?

jk
Anyway once a hacker gets their hands on one of these, the 3DS will be hacked a lot faster.
It'd be hard for a hacker to get one. They were held down really tightly.

The hacking scene "definitely" doesn't have one =p JK I have my own so I'm sure other guys behind the scenes do.

ps don't ask how I got this. I got it through an inside source that I'm not gonna name. Obvious reasons are obviously obvious.

It's not going to help the hacking scene yet. First we need to find out how to make custom *.CIA files then we may be able to talk, although from what I've picked up from this device it cannot even import official CIA files. However I don't think its totally useless.

Well, there's a reason it's called a DevKit. It's gotta have some sort of way to DEVELOP, or test code, or maybe even sign it. (The latter asking wayyyy too much.)

Oh nice! Can you try to get clearer shots of the 3 menus?

I got a high quality picture of Config below in the spoiler box (it's kinda big)

Options under "Other Settings" :

Sound Mode = [Mono, Stereo]

Dlp (Probably Download play) Force Child Import = [Enable, Disable]

System Mode = Stuck in "Prod"

Exception Handler = [Enable, Disable]

Break Stop = [Enable, Disable]

EDIT: I made a significantly higher quality picture of CTR Config:

ps does anyone want to see the home menu?

* Spoiler'd because pictures are large.

Maybe get a video similar to mine?

I wish. Unfortunately I'm very unpopular on many sites and every time I show off work/stuff everyone flames me even on rare stuff. I'm bad at presenting things to make them look good =/

However, here is:

DS and DSi modes have been stubbed in the CTR Dev units, although their headers DO appear. I can understand why DS and DSi modes would be stubbed though; this isn't for testing DS or DSi games.

EDIT: Give me a sec to fix these images. They're too big to load quickly =p

EDIT2: Fixed.

QUOTE(Bobbyloujo @ Sep 26 2011, 04:53 AM) N00bie question: So this dev unit is like an official flashcard?

Yeah, I wish. Not really though.

Well if you mean the original video i thought the same thing, but that game isn't released is it?

It's unfortunate for you it's not like a flashcard. The other system devkits are very useful in that regard... Microsoft even let you have everything on XBLA for free with no authentication to get onto the dev network (why??).

Can you enable Exception Handler and than try to crash the 3DS with the browser crushing or an other way. Than you may result in an reg dump.
