Don't worry people

I doubt any game shop will notice if you inserted a flashcart or not, on the other hand Nintendo probably can, maybe there's a storage in the nand or something that keeps a record.

When I sent off my 3DS for repairs I left an AK2i in there without a microSD though so I can't be done for pirating games, they still fixed it and returned it back. Do they care, not really.... So I don't think the bricking rumor is true and over ds mode?
what repairs did you need on your 3ds?

3D screen, it was scratched due to the poor design of the lower screen.

so using a AK2i in system it still didn't void your warranty??? if you gots receipts post em cause this would confirm this whole rumor as false.

Receipts of what, The place I brought the 3DS?

Or from Nintendo for the repair, in that case I've only got a small brown box which they sent my 3DS back in and a repair survey thingy, Along with my proof of purchase for the 3DS and that's all.

well ... ill take your word for it im conviced.
using AK2i will not void your warranty/they will not brick your 3ds/they will not restrict online features

YAY! ! ! !

Even though what Rydian says is true. The warning is still there. Personnally, I really don't care about the bricking but it would be disastrous for all gaming companies. Why? Well, Sony made his move. Maybe, Nintendo will be next. And what about Microsoft? It would be a consumers vs. game developers war.
Consumer Vs. Game Developers. Hmm. Don't game developers get their money from the consumers? They make the product, we buy it, they make their money to make more products for us to buy? Doesn't that mean that if they do something we don't like, we don't have to buy from them, thereby they lose money and have to learn that we didn't like what they did? Or do they just think they are so invincible that they can do whatever and assume that the government will protect them from bankruptcy when nobody buys from them and they are not "Essential" to our Economy?

well... exactly how much do you think companies get from all the illegally downloaded games? I do not think they are all to sorry if you do not buy their games because you no longer can't download them illegally. And as it is for now you later certainly buy all the games you have illegally downloaded, right?

ummm ... huh? i dont really understand what you are saying? (maybe try english)

Maybe he's trying to say that developers aren't too worried because even if you download a game illegally there's always a chance you'll buy the game legally (via online store or cart) if you ultimately like their product. Maybe I didn't understand his statement quite right either. Cut him/her a break... they're Swedish.

Nintendo isn't going to be bricking anyone's systems. They simply don't want you using any product that hasn't undergone their testing, and don't want you using flash cards because they are illegal.

Email from NOA legal (received today)

Hello,

Thanks for writing back.

While we would like to be able to tell for sure what may happen if you update your system, we simply don't know whether or not your system will be bricked. Because the AceKard is not an authorized product (and hasn't undergone any sort of testing by our company), we can't guarantee what it may due to a system once it's been used (this is why we discourage people from using this type of product on our systems). Although we can't make any guarantees, you may want to try reformatting your system. For instructions on doing this, please go to the following page on our support site:

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/3...ht_settings.jsp

Click on "Other Settings", followed by "Hot to Format the System Memory".

Sincerely,

Nintendo of America Inc.

Flashcarts are definitely tested in Nintendo's grounds.

Or else, how are they able to block them after a system update?

true dat. im gonna update with my ak2i still in system, and watch it poof out of existance, really though i could care less if my flashcart gets blocked as i dont use it anymore, lately i just stare at the calendar waiting for june 6th and i grab a ruler each day to measure the amount of dust collected on it since i last checked.

Another thing that makes nintendo seem like this is a scare tactic is, If you use a flashcart on the 3DS with pirated games they say they can brick you. Then why is it that they haven't bricked any Dsi's with updates? Piracy is still piracy, so this does make it seem like they're bluffing or they just can't.

Nintendo is not gonna brick system so dont worry they will just block you from services and BTW they cant detect Flashcards they can only detect modchips that you put inside your system

OMG MY 3DS got BRICKED! lol
Like seriously? I dont want to sound rude, but who the heck believed that rumour and was it really worth turning this into 30 page discussion?

Played around with Supercard DS two before updating, like I wanted. Nothing happend
