NOTE: This tutorial explains how to unbrick your exploited 6.61 Adrenaline eCFW if it is bricked (shows a black screen but can still access the Adrenaline menu). If you came here because you thought this was how to unbrick your Vita itself, you're out of luck.

So, recently the 6.61 Adrenaline exploit came out on Thursday at the time of writing (or so I thought), and a lot of people are installing it onto their 3.60 Vitas and PS TVs, including me. Sometimes, the eCFW can brick on its own and show a black screen but you can still access the Adrenaline menu though. For those who are experiencing this problem, including me, follow these steps.

So here is how to unbrick your Adrenaline eCFW. It's really easy and just takes about a few minutes.
  1. Reboot your Vita, install taiHEN, and open your Adrenaline eCFW to check that it is working after a clean reboot.
  2. If step 1 doesn't work, open VitaShell v1.42, assuming you have already installed taiHEN, go to the ux0:/pspemu/ directory and delete the file that is causing the brick. It could usually be a VSH plugin or something else, depending on the source. Now open your Adrenaline eCFW to check that it fixed the problem.
  3. If step 2 didn't work, go to the ux0:/pspemu/adrenaline/ directory.
  4. Delete the flash0/ and flash1/ folders, and the adrenaline.bin file if there is one (the Adrenaline exploit will still work without it). DO NOT DELETE THE 661.PBP FILE.
  5. Once that is done, close VitaShell, and open your Adrenaline-exploited game.
  6. When it tells you to install Adrenaline, do so by pressing X. Wait for it to finish installing the 6.61 firmware.
  7. After it has finished, it will now prompt you to open the PSP XMB. Press X to do so.
  8. Complete the initial setup that follows, and you're done!
This tutorial worked for myself, so it should probably work for others too :P
Enjoy your eCFW! :yaypsp:

Is the bricking random or is something done wrong during setup go cause the bricking?

The Vita itself won't be bricked during this problem, just the Adrenaline eCFW. I found this bricking problem sort of random, and it even popped up once on my Vita when I didn't do anything with it.

If you know what you are doing and follow the Adrenaline installation process correctly, then it pretty much has a 100% success rate and you'll have PSP XMB on your Vita ;)

Wouldn't reinstalling Adrenaline from scratch basically do the same thing?And..so far I haven't had any glitches or BSOD(black screen of death).I'm thinking this may be an issue of game type being used at the time of install...

Are you near sea/salt water, or in general they just don't last. Sounds like if you driving a mercedes, you need a garage. I get snow n ice here so nothing worse than clearing that shit off at 6am rushing to get to work.
