Hacking 2DS crashes after game launch

My friend has a modded 2ds with a 64gb sd card which has tons of games in it.
But now every time he launches a game, he gets presented with a *Core 1* crash screen.

Maybe it's because he has too many games or his sd card is too big.
Also, i just realized. When I modded his 2DS, I skipped the CTRNAND LUMA step as i thought *Eh, he won't remove the sd card anyway*
Yes, I know, I am dumber than dumb, but hey, we're talking about me, who has posted 10+ threads about his broken R button.

But anyway, any help will be appriciated.

Ctr nand is more than just if he was to remove the sd. if the card starts to fail or isnt working. the 3ds will default to the ctr nand to look for boot.firm. otherwise youre just going to get a black screen and him whining his 3ds dont work anymore. There is a reason why its in the guide and why its not advisable to skip it.

Aswell. Can you post a screen shot or more info on what the error itself says?

Cutting corners while following 3ds.hacks.guide is never a good idea. Parts that should never be skipped (but had been skipped in the past more than once):

• Checking SD with h2testw, F3 or F3X
  
• Creating a NAND backup with GodMode9
• Copying boot.firm to CTRNAND

Install boot.firm to CTRNAND now. Better late than never. Please upload a picture of the crash. Try starting DS and 3DS software from legit cartridge.

It doesn't do anything when he presses the power button.

And before you ask, yes, he reported me that he tried everything.
-Copying the sd card contents to the pc and then formatting the sd card
-Trying to scan for errors on the sd card
-etc

Trying different battery and different charger, different SD, cleaning contacts, partial disassembly and looking for badly connected ribbon cables. There is a lot to try before giving up. But I'm not forcing you.

Really sorry for the torture you had all this time with me.

Thanks, i'll try to do that when I'll pay him a visit. But, can't do that now bc... y'know, bad bad virus is all over the world.
