    I'm officially letting go of Windows on my HP EliteBook 840 G1, and putting Linux Mint XFCE on there. Depending on whether or not I feel like it, i might replace it with the normal variant since it's been upgraded to a SATA SSD and 16GB or DDR3, but for now, it can't even handle Windows 10 IoT LTSC.

    It's unfortunate that I've had to come to this conclusion, but at least I'm doing it at the comfort of my second most favorite Linux distro of all time. I always wished to have a stable PC that can run Linux on, but my gaming laptop has a NVIDIA GPU, and my college laptop is for college purposes until I get a Framework or another adjacent laptop. Thing is, if Framework is too much of an expense for me personally, I don't know what alternative I could get for my MSI PULSE GL66 12UKV.

    I am SO GLAD I'M able to have Brave as a portable install on my SSD needed for college. I dislike the fact that Edge, Chrome, and firefox installed on the systems don't have an ad blocker, and it makes going onto websites that the class offers barely usable and easily prone to getting viruses. I know that Chrome just removed all their MV2 extensions but luckily this (and Helium) have their own self hosted versions. I would use Helium, but they don't have a built in password manager, BUT I have a local backup of such in the case that I lose Brave's access and such.

    LibreWolf signs you out because you need to manually add a site to exceptions for being able to store cookies long-term

    Address bar "shield" icon > Connection (in)secure > More site information > Permissions > Set cookies > Allow

    Welp, ciro64 has deleted their GBATemp. They no longer have a presence that I'm aware of outside of their Discord.

    Thankfully I'm friends with them but I'm scared cause if they delete their discord, then yeah make that another person I was friends with that disaapeared off the inetrnet

    Just so you know that I won't be going anywhere until I get old to keep navigating this place, either due to dealing with family problems, or moving onto better things in life. Time flies super quick when you've joined for over four years to help someone out with a question, only to become fixated with the community.

    Posting to reply in DMs on Mobile just absolutely sucks now. I still have to temporarily switch to desktop mode to even be able to send a message, and it's been like this for a long time now. And I don't understand why in normal threads and profile posts, it works fine but specifically in DMs, it doesn't.

    Now that my Wii is back to normal with Ohneschwanzenegger, I'm now wondering if it would be best to start fresh when it comes to modding this machine. This used to be working with mods from the early days of modding from my father, and it started having weird issues for when I was trying to update the mods with whatever it is nowadays. Maybe re modding the system and making a NAND backup might work? What do you guys think?

    Should I leave it as it is with no mods or re mod it? I really really wished that it doesn't have problems again

    Voltage regulators on the Wii are known for failing.
    Considering the age NAND chips are potentially degrading. You could try EnuNAND.

    Capacitors can be problematic on any old device.

    Whoever came up with the name of this Wii NAND image building tool deserves a special place in hell. I cringe each time it is mentioned.

    I seriously don't get my White Wii Situation. I've used the tool that makes me "factory reset" my system previously when it was having its problems to get it to stock and when it's in stock, it feels like it's in stock. But when I tried re-modding it, I gotten the same issues as last time. Wii Settings crashing the system, 90% chance to turn on the system only for a crash, priiloader, HBC, and other homebrew apps work, but even after installing a new system menu the system still doesn't like to work the main system menu

    it's getting to a point where I'm just going to keep it stock and not have to worry about modding this system again. It's unfortunate this is the only working original Wii (with GameCube support) that I have, but I don't know how to make this issue when it has the above to not happen again when re-modding the system

    Windows Explorer has the automatic discovery feature enabled by default by changing the folder view based on the folder contents and building a cache of this in the registry. You can speed up the indexing by going into the "Registry Editor," delete both "Bags" and "BagMRU" keys in "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell". Create two new keys inside "Bags" named "AllFolders" and "Shell" ("Shell" must be within "AllFolders"). Then inside of "AllFolders" create a string value called "FolderType" and add the value of "NotSpecified" (no quotations).

    I can't move to Linux. My MSI Pulse gl66 is capable, but its a bit funnicky with my second monitor and I still want to use tools like Parsec to play retro games with others. HOWEVER, I'm currently investing into replacing this one with a Framework one so that I'm able to not only have Windows on one stick but my Dream Distro, Fedora Workstation, to get it running on.

    I don't understand why RPCS3 Emulator is supporting ARM64 but not Android. And Everytime I see it be mentioned on the Twitter, they act a little inside in how they don't want to support Android. Its making me assume they don't want to include it due to drama with the android community that I'm not aware of. But I could be wrong.

    A lot of minigames have two kinds of faces now, one for messing up once and another for continuously messing up. The rope minigame even has a "oops" face before these two for when you only slightly mess up. It gives a lot of life to the game

    Alright. I'll have to say: Unless you got coders that don't vibecode, I officially admit that using AI to assist in making something is now something I don't mind. If it makes stuff such as PS2 Emulation possible on PS2, and multiple (working) recompilation projects possible and whatnot.

    I still stand against Vibecoding. Please learn to code yourself, if you're working with the code you're using AI to make as well as understanding it, then good. if you 100% let the AI do it though, then we might have a problem and you should never touch close to any ambitious coding projects

    I'm going to play devil's advocate and suggest that vibecoding may have been used in recent game ports. Generally, a port can take years and years to create by somebody who has the knowledge to reverse-engineer the obscure graphical and music formats, and those who can disassemble code; therefore, why does it seem like a new port appears out of nowhere every month without any announcements? Was humans even involved, or was there AI slop? 🤔

    You see, there are non-coders out there that, rather than properly learn from tutorial videos or books, instead resort to their artificial idiocy bot to do it for them. You can see why I don't see the importance of game ports that have been making the recent waves in the coming months and that it took zero human interaction to develop, and even those that appear in the GBAtemp news forum. I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed by this.

    After much trouble, this message has been sent on a Samsung Galaxy S7 Running the last version of the Brave Browser. I wished they've continued to make phones this compacg because of I can have a phone that's a small or similar size to this phone but with the calabilltiies of my S24 Ultra (or just a better phone capable of running everything just fine), then this would be amazing to to have. I wished this phone wasn't outdated because this has to be one of the greatest phones that I've had. This is a Canadian model too!

    I've seen Unihertz praised here before, the specs and price check out, but apparently the software side of things is a bit rocky albeit usable

    I'm really starting to hate our White modded standard Wii with the GameCube contents in it. The Wii Menu has a chance to boot or a higher chance not to boot, when exiting out of Nintendont using either the Wiimote or the button combination it crashes the entire system, and when I exit out of a game to go to the Wii Menu, it crashes the entire system. I dont know what could be the issue with this system but its starting to really get on my final nerves.

    Does it also crash if you load a disc or installed wiiware/VC from the normal Wii menu and exit? If not, then it is probably the "return to" feature of the USB Loader that has been configured wrong. It should be set to the USB Loader forwarder (UNEO forwarder if you are using USBLGX, make sure you are not using an outdated forwarder)

    If you create a syscheck xml file and drag & drop it onto modmii it will generate the wad files needed to update your system & soft mod. This can also help.

    Maybe flash a new vanilla NAND generated with ohneschwanzenegger and start from scratch if nothing else helps.
