Hello, i recently buy a Old 3ds XL with the version 11.14.0-46E. and the guy who sell the 3DS, give me a R4 3D Card without SD card in gift.

So, i tried many time to launch the R4 but it doens't work and i have the "An error has occured". I try with other wood version and 2 different SD card but still no changes.

I'm not an expert on this "world" ahah

If this is about the generic "An error has occurred" screen, right when attempting to start the R4, this usually means it is blocked by the whitelist check. The contents of the micro-SD inside the flashcart doesn't matter in this case (the kernel is never started).

To get rid of the restrictions, consider installing B9S/Luma3DS by following The Guide:https://3ds.hacks.guide/

Good luck and have fun!

You might try the kernel from TWLmenu++ for flashcards located in the archiv TWiLightMenu-Flashcard.7z\Flashcart Loader\R4iDSN\*.dat and rename it if necessary. Or right away install TWLmenu++ on the flashcard and if the kernel wont work u can use nds_bootstrap instead.
Alternative there is YS-Menu or if you want the Card to play DS Games, install TWLmenu++ directly on the 3DS.

I tried to install The Universal updater but i got an error everytime, since i notice it was already installed lol. So, i downloaded TWLmenu++ and after that, my R4i works well ! Thanks you !

Not sure how that could fix your problem other than launching DS games from the flashcart with TWilightmenu.. but it's not the same as the flashcart itself booting games..

I don't know how too, but it works when i installed TWL, weird ^^
You are launching the flashcart from the original DS menu ( that's inside TWilightMenu)? When it boots with its own kernel to the R4 menu etc.? If so, then you are doing it correctly.

Iam not 100% in to it, but if you install TWLmenu for flashcard on a DS-flashcard. It boots directly in TWLmenu++ and can be used with mostly all its advantages. Then you can just run every game like if you have installed TWLmenu++ on the 3DS. If you dont have a compatible Kernel for your card, you can choose using nds_bootstrap instead.

Maybe @RocketRobz can explain something, or we have a explantion somewhere. Maybe in the main thread of TWLmenu++

Inside the TWLmenu++ settings can be set the classic DS-menu to be used at start. If disabled it boots directly in TWLmenu++.

Hello !

I have few question since the last time.

- I have an SD of 32Gb in my R4, can i upgrade the size or the maximum size is 32Gb ?

- Sometime when i play, the game freeze like 2 seconds and comeback normally, you know where it come from ?

- When i close my DS in sleep mode while the game still up, on my R4, my battery just go down ultra fast compare to regulars card Game, that's normal ?

Best try checking the specification of the flashcard for the max supported size for the microSD. Else its max size can be 32 gb like most flashcards have.

Its known that not all games run 100% properly by using nds_bootstrap and B4DS has some lower compatibility. Thats why the may freeze. There exists a compatibility list, source NDS_bootstrap.

The R4-DS flashcards, also the others, have build in processors which draw more power from the 3DS. Especially the DSTtwo plus Supercard because it has additionally a processor for gba games.

Info: R4i 3D Revolution for DS (r4idsn.com)
This is another name that R4i Gold 3DS (r4ids.cn) cards were sold under. So this Kernel from r4ids.cn might work, too.

If you are talking about the standard SD Card which you plug in on the right of the 3DS. There is a pin for writeprotection inside the Slot on far far left edge. It might bent, check this thread.

A microSD by itself had no writeprotection, like a standard SD with switch lock. If the card is weared out because of writecycle limit, its read only. Or the controller inside might corrupted. So if a SD adapter is used, this one needs to be checked.

Copy your data somewhere safe ASAP and test the sd card with h2testw, it's most likely failing but the software should tell you if it is.
You most likely need a new sd card either way.
