Is there any way to run homebrew with this?
It would be amazing to run JenesisDS or even the new Cave story DS port on a macro, but at the moment no matter what I do I can't seem to get this functionality to work.
I suspect its because of some difference in the nds bootstrap for homebrew and the nds bootstrap for official games?
Also @Robz8 , would it be possible in any way to add the option to choose the screen swap button combo to Twilight menu?
I personally really prefer the (Select + up/down) instant screen change as its a much easier button combo to remember, but I assume I am a minority here.
Thank you both for your hard work! It is greatly appreciated :)

There's no need to swap screen for jEnesisDS if you use this: https://gbatemp.net/threads/jenesisds-for-gbmacro-users.573933

That is absolutely amazing, I really appreciate your work! Thank you very much for the link, I was completely unaware that it was a thing :)
Is there any chance we will ever see something like this done for the Cave Story NDS port? (https://gbatemp.net/threads/cave-story-ds-port-based-on-cse2-decompilation.582377/)
I am aware it must be a ton of work, but it would be awesome to have this working as the CSE2 Cave story is a big improvement over the genesis port.
If it isn't possible its alright though, I still greatly appreciate all the lengths you have gone through for the Macro users, Thank you so much!

Thanks a lot for your words pal :)
I suppose that if CSE2 source code were released, the operation could be as simple as looking for the right place to place a few lines to force a screen swap (at least in theory, since in practice, things are not usually so simple)

Oh that is great news haha!
Its a shame CSE2 got taken down by Nicalis (Guess they were salty CSE2 is better than Cave Story+ in pretty much every way), it would have certainly made this possible from what you mentioned.
Maybe if the source code resurfaces someday, or if someone still kept it...
Well regardless, i'm still extremely thankful for your work, this brings a whole new level to Macro modding! :)

Is there any way to be able to run nds bootstrap macro on a nintendo ds lite?, I have a friend who has a DS Lite console with damaged upper screen and he would like to play games like Mario Kart DS on the lower screen.

Install TWiLight Menu++ on your flashcard, and make sure both macro mode and nds-bootstrap are enabled in TWLMenu++ Settings.

I have installed Twilight Menu on the flashcard (R4iTT) and I have macro mode turned on, And when I want to run a commercial rom with nds bootstrap macro I get a message that says "This version of nds bootstrap can only be used in DSi Mode"

Use the regular nds-bootstrap build instead. You can swap screens by L+R+X+UP for 2 seconds.

Is there a way to change the button combination for screen swaping?, my L and R buttons don't work.
If you download my modded version (older than lastest official release), swapping method can be done by pressing Select+Up / Select+Down.
Follow instructions of first post.
This version only works in a DSi.

Nope, there is no way to change the button combo.
Well, in My Nintendo DSi (all its buttons work well) with Twilight Menu++ I tried to press L+R+X+UP for 2 seconds in new super mario bros, but nothing happens. The only thing that happens is that in the nds bootstrap menu, the "Main Screen" option changes, but the game still looks normal.

I'm using the regular release of nds bootstrap, in the macro edition if it worked but in the regular one it didn't.

Your version of nds bootstrap worked perfectly for me on my DSi, but I need it for a ds lite with the top screen damaged.

Nope. Making it persistent would break some games, last we tried.

ok thanks. I have a second question regarding macro mode. Is macro mode only for DSi? Everytime i enable macro mode on my DS lite and try to load games, the screen is black, but i can hear the game audio?

Does this custom nds-bootstrap work with DS-lite? I tried it with castlevania portrait of ruin but nothing happened

Non-custom nds-bootstrap already has the feature included, and it can be activated in either the in-game menu, or by holding L+R+Up+X for 1 second.

I've just tried it with the latest release using the shortcut you provided but nothing happened
