Why do people always go that would make a good movie or a TV series about a video game? why is it never the other way round. when a series like game of thrones or lord of the rings would make a good AAA video game. but first thing people do is make a cheap mobile game. everyone is happy and okay with that. but i see it as on average people see movies and TV series like the better entertainment media when in fact it is not but that's my opinion of course.

whats your opinion on this?

I don't think anyone is actually okay with cheap mobile games, I wonder how many people know about that weird Thrones browser game.

But I think it's just the stigma Video game have. There's always that pointless discussion of what's art, for example. Video games are GAMES, put them on the big screen with just a narrative like real ART, or whatever nonsense.

I do think there are avid fans who see opportunities in adapting games for television or movies, though the track record is still low. Maybe you wanna see more ways this idea could be expressed, maybe this fight could be cooler as an animation, or you just want more new content. There are also some directors who are into what they're adapting and just want more ways to access it. All of which I think is valid.

But no medium is better than the other. Entirely depends on how someone uses the medium (the actual gameplay, or maybe the limits of film) to its fullest. Which makes video game adaptations all the more confusing, because they don't have the game... in video games? That's the point, yes, but there are plenty of games where the fact that your effort is being put into this is important.

You cannot do Nier Automata as an anime or whatever. It's why the stage plays are background information rather than just full adaptations. They know the limits of the stage and focus on that, and the game is only as impactful because it's a video game.

Edit: They are going to do this anyways.

Until today - No good Resident Evil Adapation from the first 3 Games...
Until today - No good Assassin´s Creed Adaption....
Until today - Very good (but old) STAR TREK (the original Series) Games...damn,that Vulcan Fury Game maybe would have changed everything....

Video Games have maybe better Graphics today, but TV Shows/Movies today have only more Computer Graphics.....strange...

So,it maybe makes no Difference these Days.....?

All of them are generally inferior to books when it comes to world building. There are many, many games I wish were fleshed out into a fully detailed book series.

Ultimately at the end of the day its all about stories and how they are told. Always has been and will be because we ourselves are story telling machines.

Perhaps there will be a great convergence one day.. you know, when we all finally get our flying cars.

Until then, I'd rather keep the two art forms as separate as possible.

You don't have any saying of the outcome of movies
but in video games you do, so imo video games are way better

I think you mean just being more involved in video games, cause there are plenty of games where the outcome is set from the start.

What makes a movie or series good is different from what makes a video game good, which is why video game movies, and movie video games, are seldom good.

But games have a setting, background, lore, worldbuilding elements, and characters, that can translate directly into a movie or series. There's plot and dialog you can lift verbatim, and there's room to explore and expand.

Movies and TV shows don't have a gameplay mechanic that translates directly into a game. (Or rather, they have a whole bunch of possible mechanics that would be a jumbled mess implemented in a single game.) We all know how hard it is to get one or two mechanics to balance out.

So basically it's easier to turn a game into another medium than it is to gamify some other medium, and it's more reasonable to think a game would make a good movie than that a movie would make a good game.

TV shows aren't "better" but "simpler": you don't have to think nor do something; to have fun from a videogame you have to understand how to play, think to solve puzzles, press buttons, etc...

You will never get an answer because everyone is different. Some people game more some people watch movies' more.

Let's dig deeper

Let's just say you watch a video game movie from start to finish (cutscenes only) you both get the same result at the end as if the person who played the actual game.

Do what's best for you.... Me personally you can't compare the two

There are loads of games with intriguing stories and tedious gameplay. The recently translated Magical Vaction on GBA comes to mind:

https://www.romhacking.net/reviews/2589/#review

I'd gladly pay a subscription for a service that went through said titles and upped a watchthru with all of the crap cutout so it was just a movie because pressing buttons to grind for 80 hours (!) through something like this isn't that high on my priorities.

Thats the issue I have with a lot of games is that they just don't respect your time but this one goes to show that bloatware isn't a new thing. There's probably around what, 3-5 hours worth of story in that game and the rest of it is padded out with super repetitive mechanics like most RPGs are.

Granted there are some watchthrus where people edit the visuals and story aspect into a coherent tale for busy folks like me but more obscure stuff like this that only appeals to ubernerds stays under the radar.
