Pokémon Divine Sword & Blessed Shield (Version 1.1 Major Update! EXP. Candies Return!)

Pokémon Divine Sword & Blessed Shield - v1.1

I can't believe I am finally writing this, but Phives and I are proud to finally present Pokémon Divine Sword & Blessed Shield, a difficulty romhack. Why release another romhack when Sacred Sword & King's Shield is out, you may ask? Well to be quite honest, that project was rushed and is not something we are particularly proud of. So, we have been working on an entirely new one ever since the release of the Crown Tundra. Now, over half a year later and a LOT of hours sunk into playtesting, we are finally ready to release the first version!

Intro - What is Pokémon Divine Sword & Blessed Shield?
Pokémon Divine Sword & Blessed Shield is a difficulty romhack, taking inspiration mostly from Drayano's work. However, I also played Radical Red last year and took some inspiration from that, although outside of QoL features those are purely optional. So don't worry if you want to play in Switch mode and use healing items in battle! We've made edits to nearly every Pokemon, mainly focusing on making egg and tutor moves available through normal level up movesets as well as providing buffs and new moves to tons of different Pokémon. Of course, there is documentation for everything included in the google drive folder with the download. We've of course redone the team of every single trainer in the game, and hope to encourage team building in order to over come these challenges. However, it is important to remember that all of this is done within the confines of Sword & Shield. We cannot make the AI super smart, nor can we force certain aspects like a level cap, etc. However, we have gone to great lengths in order to make it the best we possible could.

Notable Features:
  • Completely reworked Raid rewards system
  • All 600 Pokémon from Sword & Shield (including DLC) catchable outside of the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra
  • Overhauled boss battles
  • Quality of life features such as purchasable EV reducers
  • Shop overhauls in order to make competitive items easily accessible
  • Healing items disabled during trainer battles (THIS IS OPTIONAL)
  • Battle Items removed from the game (not optional, as X items are the new purchasable EV reducing items)
  • Edited Adventure Guide for in game documentation
  • Edited Pokémon & various buffs/moveset edits.

Credits & Thanks
  • The amazing creators of pkNX, this project would not be possible without their hard work
  • Drayano, for allowing us to reference some of their changes from Renegade Platinum.
  • The creator of Radical Red, soupercell, for allowing us to use certain Pokémon edits from their romhack in ours
  • https://twitter.com/__Toner___ for the logos

Pokejobs being broken is an intentional feature in order to prevent an EXP/EV exploit.
The only part of the Post Game that is currently finished is the Hop & Sordward/Shielbert section. Champions Cup rematches and such are not edited yet.

Completely hangs in Yuzu, tried without the Dlc keys checked and still hangs, last EA build and 1.3.2 game, currently trying to figure if it will work out with 1.3.1

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I playtested the entirety of the romhack on yuzu, with basically no crashes of late so I don't know what to say. Guess its a coin flip with Switch emulation though.

Sir, you playtested with which version of the game ? 1.3.0; 1.3.1 or 1.3.2 ?
Just asking cause right now it doesn't seem to load with the hack applied to it, runs normally without, currently trying to play with the 1.3.2 version.

So, after testing with both 1.3.1 and 1.3.2, none of them worked, tried with and without the DLC, and without the mod applied they both started normally, have no idea on what to do now

I have the 1.3.2 Update and it works without an issue. Maybe you applied the Mod the wrong way.

@Kobazco I had a look at the documentation files but couldn't find info about how to evolve Spritzee into Aromatisse (originally via trade), did you change anything about its evolution method by chance?

And this here is exactly why I can't help with yuzu issues. It works for most people, but not for some others. I played on 1.3.1 and 1.3.2 no issues as well. I'm sorry but I really can't troubleshoot emulator issues, other than telling you it is NOT an issue with the mod.

Hi, Spritzee evolves if leveled up while holding a sachet, I just forgot to include it in the documentation. Its there now.

Hi, I'm just wondering if i start playing the mod and you update it, do I need to start a new game?
If I update the mod, you can just download it and keep using your current save file, no need to restart.

Just updated fixing a few more evolution bugs, sorry for any inconvience once more!
Thank you for the heads up!

I have a little request, I'm playing it with my gf on two separate machines but due to the modding nature of this we cannot battle each other.. and I wondered if it was possible maybe to edit an endgame trainer you can rematch, rename him and give him my own team so at least we could have a surrogate of some sort, as an easter egg so to say.
How hard would it be for me to do something like this? I'd be eternally grateful towards you if you could spare some minutes telling me what to do :)

Actually, if you are playing with the same mods you should be able to play locally together. Just don't connect to the internet if possible. But if you want to do something like that, use pkNX and try for yourself. Can't say much other than that.

This difficulty hack is insanely hard. I have played it for a few hours after having cheated far too much in the unmodified version. I now have to fight with level 100s to even stand a chance against level 60 pokemon. I think this ROM hack makes pokemon too difficult for the average player, though I suppose this hack is aimed at those who understand the game and play it more competitively.

Perhaps the OP could come up with a "medium" ROM difficulty hack that reduces the difficulty by another 20-30%.

I would suggest playing with the usable healing items patch if you are having issues, or maybe EV training your Pokemon so you do not have to be so over leveled. There already exists other romhacks that change the difficulty in other ways, so maybe try those out. I do plan on making balance changes down the line, but it won't be anything drastic.

I beat the game in playtesting without cheating, around the same level as the AI trainers throughout the entire game, without too many attempts. SwSh AI is still very exploitable. Sorry that you found it this way.

The wild area documentation is in the file titled "Wild Encounters DS&BS" in the Documentation folder. Its in there, I don't know what it is you are talking about. As for the static high level encounters, those are unchanged from the base game.

so not only is it milking the cash cow that nintendo make two versions of the same game, but lock certain pokemon out of one and vice versa, they now milk the cash cow even more by doing another alternative of each version.

this just proves nintendo know its devoted fans will blindly buy anything they crap out.

Is there a chance for a "clean" version of this hack similar to Drayano's mods? Not really a fan of heavily edited stats, types, etc. I'd prefer a mod that won't cause problems when playing online with other people.

Not any further crashes/freezes so far, even when i walked by the watchtower ruins again. Strange. Have played through the game, beaten the champ. Was a fantastic ride, difficulty feels right.

My suggestions if you want to make it a bit harder:
- Weather teams could use a bit of a tweak, more weather related mons/sweepers could be a good addition to them
- More Terrain trainers could prove a real challenge.
- Maybe give a legendary to the strongest trainer like you did with Rose
