sysmmc is not when i turn off my Switch and boot it normaly or ?
and which one shall i use ??
No, sysMMC is indeed when you turn off your Switch and boot normally. However if you boot normally, then you will not be able to dump it with a homebrew save manager unless you are willing to make another emuMMC which will contain the save data that you wish to carry over in sysMMC.

Yes because as I told you, you have 2 options. The second option is to launch a homebrew save manager on sysMMC to dump the save data so you can then restore it in emuMMC.

What is the proper way to backup partition based EmuMMC ? I've mounted the EmuMMC partition on linux and created an .img file using "dd" (BOOT0 and BOOT1 too). Is there something else i should do?

I had been using Atmosphère on firmware 6.1.0. One day I connected my Switch to the Internet by accident and it downloaded an OS update. I was too lazy to delete the downloaded update and one day I clicked install by mistake.. :\

I've now got my Switch up and running again after throwing the latest Atmosphere on my SD card. My Switch is now 9.1.0, but what I don't understand: why does Hekate only show 5 burnt fuses?

I initially updated from 4.1.0 to 6.1.0 with ChoiDujour to avoid burning fuses. But since I installed the 9.1.0 update through the regular update function, shouldn't this have burnt my fuses? According to this I think I should have 12 burnt fuses?

Or are fuses only burnt when booting stock FW and not during the upgrade? This would make updating a whole lot easier because I don't actually need ChoiDujour to avoid burning fuses, as long as AutoRCM is active?

If you didn't power on the switch and boot normally after the update and only booted via RCM it wouldn't have burnt fuses as the fuse burning is only done via booting with the stock bootloader.

As for future upgrading, I recommend using Daybreak which comes bundled with atmosphere

If I just want to use Retroarch on a first generation Switch what hacking routine should I follow? It looks like there is a dual boot style way of doing it - so when I boot into the hacked OS it doesn't know anything about or change anything in the official OS.

I don't want to do anything that involves fake tickets for pirating games or fiddling and cheating online. I just would like Retroarch and a set of ROMs on an SD card.

Will I be safe from the Nintendo ban hammer.

Usage of any CFW or homebrew can lead to a ban. This is a verified fact so you will not be safe from the hammer even if you only use Retroarch.

...Well, using only retroarch in offline emuMMC or using lakka/android/linux won't (like with 99.99% chance) get you banned.

Just make sure to keep your sysNAND clean. I think the best way for you would be using lakka or android on switch since it provides the best emulation experience but requires quite some reading and setting up stuff. The easiest way is to create emuNAND (basically a copy of your sysNAND but on your sd card) and use switch RetroArch from there. it has great compatibility except for gamecube/wii and some specific dc games maybe...

I wasn't referring to emuMMC or Lakka/Android/Linux.

few questions

switch is on hekate , atmpsphere 19.2

my firmware is: 10.02

how do i install cheap app for games and use them? ( i have something called in my apps) but not sure how to enable/activate cheats

how do i install games directly from an app store on the switch, what do i need?

what is best way to transfer games easily? via usb (what app do i need?)

often when i update the atmosphere, some of the games don't load at times, and i get an exclamation error, do i need to reinstall the game again? or is there a fix... what does traversing sd card do in the hekate menu

at the moment i have the rcm bootloader and the joycon trick to boot the hekate software. is this still the right/ easiest method?

any other tips/advise?

thankyou

  • By "cheap app", I assume you meant cheats? If so, I guess you can try following this tutorial
  • There is no way to install games directly from an app store on the Switch
  • The best way to transfer games easily is via USB install. I recommend using TinWoo Installer and NS-USBLoader
  • That issue is often due to outdated and/or incorrect patches. You can always grab the latest patches from this pinned thread
  • Booting into CFW via RCM is still considered to be the easiest method
  • One tip I recommend doing in case you haven't already is making a backup of your eMMC which you can do with Hekate. Make sure you dump BOOT0/BOOT1 and either eMMC raw GPP or eMMC SYS. The difference between dumping the raw GPP and eMMC SYS is that the raw GPP will contain any content installed to your system as well as save data unlike eMMC SYS. The only reason you would want to dump eMMC SYS over the raw GPP is that eMMC SYS is only around 2 GB while the raw GPP is closer to 30

Just received a switch I bought online, the serial number in the system settings matches what was advertised but the serial number on the sticker is different.

Does this mean someone swapped the motherboard?
If the new serial number is unpatched, do I need be concerned?
I'm not sure how to proceed, and I haven't done anything with it yet. Debating on whether or not to return it.

You don't need to be concerned if the serial number is unpatched but even I will admit that it is quite peculiar it doesn't match the sticker. After all, the sticker serial number isn't important because that can easily be falsified. The important one is the one you verified via the system settings. If you want further proof, you can always try sending a payload in RCM to verify that it is unpatched. You should at least do that before considering a return of the console.

Roger that. I'll wait for my jig to arrive before I make any decisions. Thanks.

Looks like I'm in the right place with a noob question:

I've been using hacked switch and atmosphere on firmware 11.0.1 (always updated using ChoiDejour since 4.x.x). Never been online since hack, many NSPs installed.

Stupidly let nephew in law play unsupervised and came back to "Suggestion Fatal error: [NXBOOT]: Unable to identify package1!". And "it just stopped working".

Fixed this by downloading latest atmosphere and payload and got back up and running, NSPs seem fine (everything except TinFoil).

I can see he connected to the internet, downloaded Rocket League, and updated switch to 12.0.1.

1) are my fuses cooked? Edit: Seems they are fine since only loaded from RCM.
2) is my switch likely banned?
3) anything I should worry about or just wait for new sigpatches for TinFoil to work again?

  1. Since it seems like you console was updated online, the only way to update online without burning fuses is to update while in CFW and have AutoRCM enabled. Either way, there is no point in deliberating because you can easily check your fuse count via Hekate
  2. Nobody can tell you if your console is banned or not except for Nintendo so the simplest way to check is by trying to go online. If however it turns out you are not banned yet, that does not mean you are safe. Since the console went online, Nintendo is now aware that your console is hacked so you are flagged at the very least
  3. I highly recommend using TinWoo Installer. It touts the same features but with none of the drama or bullshit; its just a really great title installer that just works.
  4. This is just a minor observation but I doubt you have been using ChoiDujour to update your firmware past 6.2 because 6.2 is the highest firmware ChoiDujour supports according to this guide

I want to play my legit copy of Monster Hunter Rise online, can I just restart the Switch in "clean" mode without any possibility to get banned?
