I am just trying to run my imports (1 Pal, 4 Japanese) through my Wii U and I don't know what I am doing wrong.

I have Haxchi and the Homebrew Channel successfully installed.
It was suggested I install the USB Loader GX to run the Pal region game, but home brew channel doesn't find the files

I had everything stored on
SD:\WiiU\Apps
And just incase I made a backup to SD:\Apps
In case it needed to be directly off the root folder.

When I open the Homebrew channel, this is all I see.

When I try running Riivolution, it is just a black screen.
All I want to do is is play my imports on my US Wii U.

I originally had the HomeBrew channel running off a Samsung Micro 64GB MicroSd, but since it was being finicky, I transferred the files to a standard Sandisk 64GB SD card.

For the Japanese Imports, I have the translation patches on my system but as I said, all that happens is I get a blank, black screen when I load them.

Any help would be wonderful, thank you!
(Sorry for being such a newbie with this!)

You've made the classic error of mixing up the Wii and Wii U. You've got a Wii U, but the homebrews you're talking about (USB Loader GX, Riivolution) are Wii homebrews. Not trying to patronize you at all, but just so everything is clear: the Wii U is an entirely new generation of console from the old Wii, it's like the equivalent of a PlayStation 3 and a PlayStation 4.

However, the Wii U does have backward compatibility for the Wii, and so if you have both modes hacked, you need your homebrew apps to coexist on the same SD card. This is where the different directories you're talking about come into play. sd:/apps is your Wii (legacy) homebrew directory, and sd:/wiiu/apps is your Wii U (new-gen) homebrew directory. Wii U homebrews are only compatible with the Wii U, and Wii homebrews are only compatible with the Wii backward-compatibility mode.

Now, the question this leaves us with is: are the imports you're trying to play Wii games, or Wii U games? The answer as to how to get region free support really depends on whether your games are for the Wii or Wii U.

If the imports you have are for the Wii U, you might want to look at RegionHax. However, do make sure you know exactly what you're doing before messing with the Wii U system files. This will allow you to play out-of-region Wii U (but not Wii!) discs.

If your imports are actually legacy Wii games though, getting "region-free" support is a bit more complicated. Nobody has created a region-free mod for the virtual Wii mode on the Wii U as far as I know, so you would need to run specific Wii homebrews to get around the region lockout, and there are quite a few options there. Wii-side homebrews like NeoGamma or Gecko OS are probably the simplest ways to run out-of-region Wii (but not Wii U!) discs.

First off, thanks for the reply!
I know the Wii U and Wii are different systems. Always felt Nintendo's naming convention was shit, and was part of the reason the Wii U didn't sell well. (God knows how many people thought it was just a Wii with a tablet, even worse was calling the upgraded 3DS the New 3DS and let's not even get into the Xbox naming bs.)

All the games are Wii games, Japanese are Captain Rainbow, Project Zero 4 (Fatal Frame 4), Zengeki no Regi, and Earth Seeker
The Pal region is Fatal Frame 2

As for the Homebrew, Riivolution says it supports the Wii U with their latest update, which I used. Looking back however, I used the Wii guide to set up the Riivolution games on my system. So I may have to put the files under the Wii U folder to work.

As for USB Loader GX, it says it works with the Wii U.

I just realized I was trying to run everything in Wii U mode, and that's probably the source of my problem!
I was so focused on getting it to run on the Wii U, I never even thought about turning it into Wii mode, and assumed it would just run by itself when booting the apps!

Thank you! I feel kind of stupid now.
