Patching the updates for games just means lowering the firmware requirement right?
This is only a temporary solution. Eventually, new games and new game updates will not be able to be patched for 11.0.0 as future software development kits start to be used.

Pretty sure you would have to have a nand backup of the previous firmware.

If you don't it's not the end of the world though if you have to learn something new and use atmosphere. It's really easy the only thing people get stuck on is adding the patches and they're on gbatemp. The only reason you would care is if you use an external hard drive to play XCIs you can't do on atmosphere otherwise they're the same.

he dosnt need any nand backup just put atmosphere on your sd card download 11.0.0 and install it with DayBreak that comes with Atmosphere then you can go back on using that crap SXOS its that easy

Shows what I know.

But since he's going to have to use atmosphere to do it again unless he needs an external hard drive he may as well just keep atmosphere imo.

Yeah, but it's strange they released the last update in the middle of the trials, and after the arrests Nintendo released 11.0.1, and that's when sx team went silent?
11.0.1 broke XCI loading, that's all. Remember this update had a GC firmware update.

The future of atmosphere is unclear due to no allowing piracy. atmosphere might nivere recive another compatibility update. atmospehre users should at least explore using sxos, just in case.

-.- everytime you talk is about " reason to believe; unclear; etc that sxos will continue. everybody knows your bias man.. no need for more.

sxos has emunand and the update is minor no game ask for it.. god lord..
According to my daughter, Minecraft does.
Edit: Animal_Crossing_New_Horizons_Update_v1.7.0 also seems to require 11.0.1
Edit2 : Cadence_of_Hyrule_Crypt_of_the_NecroDancer_Featuring_The_Legend_of_Zelda_Update_v1.5.0 also requires 11.0.1
Edit3: UNO_for_Nintendo_Switch_Update_v1.0.9 as well (Imma stop editing here)

If you are ripping your own game carts it's also not a solution. For example, I have the game cart for "Immortals Fenyx Rising" and if I insert it into one of my unmodded Switches on 11.0.0 it works fine, but if I insert it into an SXOS switch on 10.0.1 I cannot even rip the game to begin with. Kind of hard to patch a game that I can't rip in the first place.

So sorry a piracy company offering an illegal product isn't being customer focused

The legality of copyright infringement varies by location. In America, where I am located, it's a civil matter rather than a criminal matter. Of course, it can become a criminal matter in some circumstances. Still, it is my opinion that there is a difference between piracy and enabling piracy. Individuals should be responsible for their own individual actions, and the fact remains that there are legitimate uses of their product.

Contrary to popular belief, there are reasons to use game backups other than piracy. I always, immediately, backup all of my games. I buy physical, but I back them up and unless I plan to play a game online I keep the cart in a safe place. I even purchase limited run games on a regular basis and keep them well protected. I also purchase multiple copies of games of I intend to use multiple copies at once. I also buy the same game again on later consoles. For example, I own Grandia II for Dreamcast and Grandia HD for Switch as a physical cartrige. I own all the Pikmin games for Gamecube, Wii, Wii U, and Switch. I own Myst for PC and Switch. In other words, I'm not pirating. Nintendo would of course disagree, but they are entitled to their opinion.

One reason I prefer playing single player games on SXOS is the ease of backing up and restoring saves. If my online Switch died, guess what? All my saves will be gone! Sure, there's cloud saves - and I pay for Nintendo Online family plan - but really, most games I play don't support it.

I could also do that on Atmosphere, but in Atmosphere you have to install games and If I installed more copies of a game than I owned that would be piracy. It would be a real pain to have to uninstall and install games constantly. Especially when compared to the ease of just dragging the game onto and off of an sd card. So for someone like me, who owns multiple Switches, but only multiple copies of some games, Atmosphere would be the piracy OS. Not SXOS.

You realize Atmosphere is open source and anyone can do anything they want with it, right? Like it’s not “unclear” when literally anyone can and has made projects based on Atmosphere and added sig patches to it. If the current team right now said “Right, we’re done,” literally anyone can turn around and fork it to continue the project. Open source projects aren’t dependent on one person/team for their future.

That's true, and it might be one reason why Nintendo hasn't gone after Atmosphere at all. It would be a pointless effort.

That's also why I wish groups behind projects like SXOS and Gateway 3DS had some committment to release their code open source at the end of the product life. (I still don't understand why Gateway never did that. Since that console is at the end of it's life it would have been nice having permanent .3DS file support) I completely understand ceasing support for a product once it is no longer profitable, but in such a case there would be no reason to keep it closed source anymore. On the contrary, I would argue that a promise to make it open source would make it more profitable while in active production and would serve as a sort of dead man switch (no pun intended) where any act to successfully shut them down would only cause the code to go out into the wild.

Of course, the possibility of being bought out can subvert such a promise and there is a precedent for console makers buying out companies when they can't otherwise shut them down. Case in point, when Sony lost it's lawsuit against Bleem! because - like it or not - writing your own software to play licensed games is not illegal - they ended up just buying the company behind it, Connectix.

I am pretty sure the main reason Nintendo isn’t going after Atmosphere is because it’s not using any of Nintendo’s code and it’s also not violating any of Nintendo’s copyright. As well Atmosphere isn’t technically made for piracy. SXOS actually had Nintendo’s code in it and that’s the reason why it’s not supposed to be linked and upped to the Temp. Nintendo has also been going after the SX team due to their products being specifically made and advertised for piracy.

No it's actually quite simple...
Nintendo allows unsigned code as much as they do piracy! The exact same difference in their eyes.
That is a fact and not your opinion!
That's like a car maker saying oh look we will not allow you to take your dog into the car because the car was build for people only.
Nintendo can't just dictate what you do with your console, if I want to throw it out off a cliff I am free to do so, if I want to run perfectly legal homebrew on it then I should go ahead and do it.
