my 3ds died and is beyond salvation, and i been considering to buy a new one, from the "New" series
but i wanna buy it not only for the 3ds and ds games but also to take a chance on the emulation homebrews
and in chile is getting hard to get a N3DSXL, and maybe i will have to settle down to a new 2ds xl, but i dont wanna do it if it means that i will have emulation problems
so i wanna know if its as good as the N3DSXL or no, please help me out of this, i tried to search for comparation topics but all they do is compare tech specs, not emulation

with O3DS you can emulate lots of stuff properly, just not N64 (too slow) and PSX (wont even boot AFAIK). And PSX doesnt even have perfect emulation on N3DS just yet.
Maybe you could save a few bucks and go for an O3DS? Just my suggestion as a fellow latinamerican that can't afford these handhelds as easily as everyone else around here

PSX emulation is actually pretty much “perfect” on N3DS on most major titles.
Not really. I've converted all of my games to the more preferred format of CHD. Some games definitely play better, but some of the newer 3D games still lag in audio and framerate. I still see slowdowns in Crash Bandicoot 2, Tomb Raider 2/3, THPS3, and Jet Moto. The FMV's in Skullmonkeys still stutter, FFIX videos also see some slowdowns. Chrono Cross still has significant framerate issues, even with frameskip. Same with Spyro.

Turning audio off completely helps immensely. I've tested the unofficial builds, stable builds, and nightlies. The nightlies seem to preform better, but that could just be my perceptions. I have no real way of benchmarking it other than offset values and framerate values. A lot of games are playable just fine, but there are a large handful that don't play well at all.

Where are you seeing slowdown in Crash 2? I can get some on a few of the hub screens but not in actual gameplay.
The level select screens, during transitions to the "Bonus" areas, also during the "?" area transition, and whenever the hologram of Cortex plays. Most gameplay is ok.

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
