Note: This is an update being posted during my vacation time. If you need me for live help, I will be available sometime in mid-February (after Valentine's Day).
Hello, Rock Banders! I promise I haven't abandoned this thread, and to prove it, I've got some details to share with you.
Ethan Gordon (Discord user "Miramur") has contributed to my GitLab wiki by adding the Rock Band 3 DLC generations (A through D), as well as an interesting guide on how to add back the official Wii DLC using downloaders that are available through my Discord and other sites (which we can thank Rudi Rastelli for). He'll be helping me with my wiki from now on, proofreading and contributing new material.
For vWii users, Miramur has added the link to
wiiu.hacks.guide, a wiki site for hacking the Wii U and installing essential homebrew. If you find that some of the hacks on WiiBrew.org are a bit cumbersome (some
do work, like BatHaxx, but are intended for the Wii and not vWii), you may want to try the Wii U Hacks Guide setup.
Miramur is in my RBC Discord server now, so if you need help with anything Wii, I suggest asking him. He seems to know about this kind of thing quite a bit, so feel free to ask away!
If you go to
customscreators.com, or click on any link that references that domain, you will be surprised to find that it redirects you to a Wordpress-powered site called
Rhythm Gaming World.
Does this mean that C3 is dead?
No! It's the new Customs Creators!
Rhythm Gaming World was created (by pksage, Farottone, MrPrezident, and others) to cover more games other than just Rock Band. It features coverage on various other Harmonix properties (including the recently-released Fuser game), and also covers other rhythm games like Spin Rhythm XD (more notably its custom song site SpinShare) and Phase Shift (based on the opensource PC game FretsOnFire, which in turn was based on Guitar Hero).
Want to find the old forums? It's still there - just use the tabs to navigate to
Forums > C3 Forums. If you had an account on C3, it's there too - but you'll have to update it.
- Click the profile icon in the upper right corner (the person silhouette in a circle).
- Type in all of your information again. If you find that it's not accepting your password, click "Forget?" and follow the steps to create a new one.
- Complete the Captcha puzzle to confirm you are a human.
- Click Login, and there you go!
Some things haven't been added back fully yet, like an "About Me" page, but all your posts and threads will appear in your history. You'll also want to resend friend requests to anyone you were friends with previously, and re-add your profile photo and avatar.
Looking at my GitLab repo, I suddenly realized just how lacking and confusing it really is. Here, I've been trying to make it more concise and easy to understand, but instead, it has only become more complicated.
So, I may be redoing some things related to my wiki, and possibly the entire repo itself. I've also considered joining RGW (the aforementioned Rhythm Gaming World) staff for editorials and such, but I'm not sure if that's going to happen yet.
However, I
do need help, so here's what I'm proposing. If you want to help me with my GitLab repo and wiki, then here's what I require:
- Have a GitLab account. If you don't have a GitLab account, you'll need to make one. Note that GitLab also allows integration from other repo sites like GitHub, so if you have software you want to migrate to my repo from another repo, GitLab should be able to import it. If not, just fork my project and add the files by hand.
- Join RBC Discord. In order to diagnose problems on the fly, you'll need to come to my Discord server. Again, if you don't have a Discord account, you can make one easily. Just make sure I know where you're coming from and what you're purpose is, so I can also add you to my GitLab project.
- Know what you're doing! If you haven't successfully added customs to any consoles, then why are you joining? I'm not just talking about Wii or vWii - I also mean Xbox and Playstation! You need to have some experience with hacking consoles and adding customs to Rock Band editions before I can consider you for my project. Who knows, it may expand... Hmm, well, I better not let that spill just yet.
That's really it. GitLab, Discord, and knowledge. You have these three things, then you pretty much qualify, however the final decision will be made by yours truly. Let me know what you'd like to do, and I'll see what GitLab role to give you.
Welp, that's all I can report on for now! God bless, and KEEP ROCKIN'!
